Dead Rising demo...it's alive!

Xbox Live Marketplace now offering Capcom's mall-bound shopping-and-chopping spree; 1GB download limited to 15 minutes of play.

Early this week, haters of the undead drooled at Capcom's announcement that a demo for Dead Rising would be coming to Xbox Live Marketplace soon. Well, it's now time to sharpen those blades, polish those guns, and buff those mannequins (or whatever other makeshift weapons gamers can get their mitts on), because Capcom's Dead Rising demo has lurched silently onto Xbox Live.

Rather than give gamers a few full levels to toy around with, the Dead Rising demo operates on a time limit. The sampling offers 15 minutes of play, giving gamers a quick tease a few days before the full retail game is available in the US (August 8) and more than a month before its European release (September 8).

Despite the 15-minute time limit, the demo gives a good look at the final game, with cutscenes and numerous weapons available to play with. The game's hero, Frank, starts equipped with a sledgehammer and a shotgun, and as gamers progress through the zombie-infested mall, they can pick up other items to use against the undead meatbags.

Dead Rising is rated M for Mature, and will retail for $59.99 on the Xbox 360. The demo is not available in Germany, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, or Asia. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

There's an uzi and a bottle of orange juice up on a veranda too. Uzi for brutal entertainment and juice for a refreshing drink that'll fill 3 or 4 health bars up.

    WOOT

This might sound stupid but it is true.

I played the game for 2 hours on Sunday and I loved it.
That same night I dreamed about me and two other people stuck in the mall
That is surround it with zombies and these Zombies where different like the one
From 28 days later, they were fast and smart.
The dream felt real (very real) and I was very scared during and after.
In the last 5 years good zombie movies and games came out more than ever before, and
My question is: did any of you guys start having Zombie nightmares or fears that you never had before?

Xbox Live is just amazing. Only a fanboy would deny that. A free demo before the game's release is what I call 'awesome'. The demo is great and I will own Dead Rising on launch.

    Thank you, Capcom & MS!

Yeah just get REEEAAALLLY close to a horde of zombies and start taking pictures. Don't worry if they start to kill you as long as your pics have all the action you'll get the best ratings LMAO.

Actually there is a way to get the demo in other countries. I did it when Chromehounds came out with the demo in Japan but I might get banned if I post how to do it here. You can Google it though.

NEW meaning to "Guitar Hero". In guitar shop each guitar electric, bass, acoustics...etc. all have unique melee attacks.

    Posted Aug 6, 2006 2:23 pm GMT

Okay so dont blame M$ for it not being available in all countries.. This is due to your countrys ratings boards not certifing it for release.. as soon as it is cleared it will be available on marketlace.

This demo is an unfinished build and is not the final game.
The 1 Gb file size is due to the need to download the eintier game engine witch in this case is quite large. is has nothing to do with the time limit.

The 15 mins is not that short and is a good teaser and is infinatly replayable.

After the recent demo shown on "On the spot", this is my most anticipated game of all time.

Thank god for XBL Marketplace, because this game is bound to get banned or toned down for release in some countries, so I'll be able to play part of it at least.

Thankfully our censor supports over the top violence, and this game definetly has a big sense of humour about it.

the demo is hella fun. just beatting up zombies with any weapon is fun. too bad the area is small though nd whenever u enter a room or another area it jus ends up as a cliff hangar which sucks but still kool

Great game, but please don't compare this to Oblivion, it doesn't come close...lol. Oblivion beats it on visuals alone.

There is an uzi to the right of the main staircase, it is on a blue overhang. when u first spawn, go straight to the flight of stairs in from of you and kill all the zombies on it, then turn to the right until u see a blue overhand thing and jump onto it (when u jump to it you have to keep pressing "A" to get up) walk very carefully down to the end past the teddy bear and the box and there is an uzi (an uzi is a sub machine gun for those of you who arent familiar). there is just a bagette in the box. the uzi is awesome for dropping a crowd of zombies at once!

To find the katana go upstairs to the eating area (w/ blender) and drop down below to the mall area. There is an overhead tarp that you can fall on that has the katana on it.

This Demo is definatly awesome. So how many diffrent endings has everyone Found? So far I know about the 4:

    1. The Time runs out and you see a red eyed zombie at night outside the mall.

    2. You go to the movie theater and some crazy preacher is in there with a big ass sword and bunch of people tied up.

    3. You go out to the courtyard and there are some convicts bashing skulls on a Humvee.

    4. you go to the main lobby and a father ans his two sons are hanging out on the second floor ready to blow your head off with a sniper rifle.
