Partial TGS 2006 game list emerges

CESA and Nikkei BP's tentative slate of games show Xbox 360 and PS3 present and accounted for, but no Wii titles yet.

A preliminary list of games that are confirmed for exhibition at this year's Tokyo Game Show was announced today by event coordinators Nikkei BP and the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association. The list covers the games and booths of 93 companies that registered by July 21 for the 2006 show, which runs from September 22-24. Currently, 140 companies are signed up, accounting for a grand total of 1,709 partition spaces.

While Sony and Microsoft's next-generation platforms are represented, there's no mention of Nintendo's Wii. However, this is only a preliminary list, and several big names--including Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment--have not revealed their software plans. Some heavyweights have given only vague outlines of what will be at their booths. For example, Konami promises that the "latest titles" in the Metal Gear Solid and Bemani series will be shown, but the company hasn't spilled any details.

CESA also updated the schedule for the TGS Forum, which will be held on September 22 during the show's Business Day. Capcom's Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi will headline the Characters Session, joined by Takashi Yamazaki, who directed the opening movie to Capcom's Onimusha 3 and the award-winning film Always Sanchome no Yuhi. Takeuchi and Yamazaki will share the stage with Hirofumi Inagaki, producer of Namco Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam-themed PS3 shooter.

A list of the show's featured platforms, each platform's total number of games, and a selection of titles is below:

I wish Ridgeracer 7 was coming to the 360,but maybe its only a minor upgrade to 6. otherwise ps3 and 360 are close right now for titles.

Uh, NeoGeo was actually successful, believe it or not. SNK didn't expect millions of people to actually want one, so they only made a very limited number of systems. The people who bought one knew what they were getting into. Long after typical stores stopped selling NG software, the fans of the system continued to support the system until they finally stopped making games for it just a few short years ago.

Oh, and yes, the Xbox and GameCube ARE pretty much dead and buried. Besides Twilight Princess, do you see anything of note on any GC release schedule, in any country? I hear crickets chirping. Do you see anything besides multiplatform releases for Xbox? Maybe a handful, but nothing really. It's all about the 360 now. Of course they'll be fun to play for many years, but in terms of new software... yeah, they're just about dead.

There are two things I want out of TGS:
    1) A release date for the PS2 version of beatmania IIDX 12: Happy Sky
    2) An announcement for a PS2 version of Espgaluda II

I would be shocked and amazed if anyone reading this has heard of both games.

Sony better enjoy what money they can get from the remaining titles coming out for the PS2 because the PS3 is going to collect dust in warehouses and retail shelves. Absolutely NO ONE in their RIGHT MIND would ever buy one for the price point it's currently set at. Can anyone say NeoGeo?

Anyway, it sounds cool. However, wondering about that sole GameCube game...

Battle Stadium D.O.N? I wonder what's that about. Well I seen the trailer for it and what basically what I saw were characters from DBZ, Naruto, and One piece fighting each other. So I guess its like a collab fighting game.

Probably cause this thread is old, but there is a new "news" thingy on Sony's list, saying that Devil May Cry 4 will be playable at TGS. So for those wanted to see DMC4, your wish has been granted. Now let's hope we see more Resident Evil 5....and better yet, I hear we'll be seeing Silent Hill 5 for the PS3 at TGS as well. =)
