Partial TGS 2006 game list emerges
CESA and Nikkei BP's tentative slate of games show Xbox 360 and PS3 present and accounted for, but no Wii titles yet.
A preliminary list of games that are confirmed for exhibition at this year's Tokyo Game Show was announced today by event coordinators Nikkei BP and the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association. The list covers the games and booths of 93 companies that registered by July 21 for the 2006 show, which runs from September 22-24. Currently, 140 companies are signed up, accounting for a grand total of 1,709 partition spaces.
While Sony and Microsoft's next-generation platforms are represented, there's no mention of Nintendo's Wii. However, this is only a preliminary list, and several big names--including Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment--have not revealed their software plans. Some heavyweights have given only vague outlines of what will be at their booths. For example, Konami promises that the "latest titles" in the Metal Gear Solid and Bemani series will be shown, but the company hasn't spilled any details.
CESA also updated the schedule for the TGS Forum, which will be held on September 22 during the show's Business Day. Capcom's Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi will headline the Characters Session, joined by Takashi Yamazaki, who directed the opening movie to Capcom's Onimusha 3 and the award-winning film Always Sanchome no Yuhi. Takeuchi and Yamazaki will share the stage with Hirofumi Inagaki, producer of Namco Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam-themed PS3 shooter.
