Ninety-Nine Nights demo live
Sample of soon-to-be-released collaboration between Q Entertainment and Phantagram arrives on Xbox Live Marketplace.
While not every Xbox 360 game receives a playable demo on the system's Marketplace service in a timely fashion, there are exceptions. In the final days of June, a demo for 3D Realms' first-person shooter Prey went up for download more than a week in advance of the final game hitting store shelves. Now 360 gamers are getting to go hands-on with another yet-to-be released game, as a 587.43MB demo for Ninety-Nine Nights is now available for download.
An action adventure game in a fantasy setting, Ninety-Nine Nights puts players in command of seven different characters as they hack their way through opposing armies. Developed as a collaborative project between Tetusya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment and Korean studio Phantagram, it represents a bit of a break from tradition for both companies. While Q is known primarily for puzzle games like Lumines and Meteos, Phantagram earned accolades for its work on the real-time-strategy/action hybrid Kingdom Under Fire series.
Ninety-Nine Nights is rated M for Mature and will retail for $49.99 when it's released in mid-August. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

egh, i think ill stay with dynasty warriors 5 empires and samurai warriors for now, then when their all completed and i really want something i havent played, and maybe when N3 drops in price a little. not enough characters. I love how DW and SW has a plethora of different characters and weapons. N3 only has 7 characters!? they need some downloadable content in the way of new characters! next gen graphics be damneded. I need variety.

Have played the demo. I found it to be a fun. There is a small frame drop issue that is if you charge straight into the final boss and have roughly around 2000+ enemies around you. At that point, the games becomes very very slow and I have to use one of the special moves to clear majority of them in order to speed it up. It is not a big deal as only a few extreme people like me will try to do that. My guess for the game will be around 7.8 and I'm going to have it sooner or later.

Played demo. Once you get used to the 1000+ combos and the large # of enemies, it sort of becomes novel. I'm hoping there something deeper in the full release or at least has a good story. If not, I'll wait until it goes on sale. Dead Rising is a much better game when it comes to massive enemies.

I didn't notice any bugs in the demo. Though I do agree with the guy about the camera. It's too low to the ground on default and it's a pain to keep moving it up.
I thought the game had potential, though I'd prefer more smaller fights w/tougher enemies than figjting 10 billion weak guys at once.
Very nice graphics and it was amazing how many NPC's could be onscreen at once w/no slowdown in the frame rate.

The game was about as good as the voice acting, not good. Hopefully the real game will have more depth and be more interesting. Also, maybe they will fix all the bugs that were in the demo.

Enjoy it. Largest combo thusfar has been something like 2469, then I freaking died. My biggest complaint is the camera. FREAKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!! And for a M rated game, I'd like blood and lots of it... FIX THE CAMERA PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The demo I found to be very fun. I've played through it 4 times now. 1st time I lost to the boss. 2nd time I beat it with 2.5k kills. 3rd time over 3k kills and the last time I did over 4000 kills and best combo was 900. Most of the enemies are easy to kill but on occassion you'll get a stronger oppopnent or 2 admist the groups who actually know how to block well. Bosses aren't 2 difficult so long as you know how to use the block button. If you just keep attacking em without ever blocking or moving to dodge you'll more that likely be killed. Great demo can't wait for the full game to be out as I am definatelly getting this one. Yes mouth sync is poor and all that but in no way does it ruin the game. I'ved nearly mastered all of the combos for Commander Asphar from level 1 to 6. Framerate was smooth for the most part except a small drop heppened when I used the larger orb spark attack and took out over 900 of em. Laughed so bad when I saw all 900 of the bodies come plummeting down to the ground.

Awsome game. Alotta fun. Annoying camera and horrible slowdown when you jump into the middle of 1000 goblins. Still pretty cool. It will prolly get a 7 of 10.

Awsome demo. Great use of ATI's crowd tech. First game of this type I might really get into, last was Drakenguard2 and it lost me after awhile.
The demo definately seems work-in-progress for many reasons though. Lots of little sounds and things are missing in places, such as some sort of impact when you are attacking the sentry towers. Even if this was a sample of the final game though, the core gameplay looks like it might keep my interest.

ok guys, you don't even know how this game recived in japan and you are talking about how awsome this game is, this game is pure CRAP, yes it got nice shining graphics, and awsome combos but thats all it has, Famitsu gave this game 8 / 8 / 8 / 7 - (31/40), if you look this rating well its alright, but thats the leastest grade that Q Entairtainment got which is very very dissapointment, Gamebrink (a iport games reviwer) gave this game 7 and do u know why? Boss fights are dreadful, Engine is broken when it comes to one on one fights, There is no gameplay balance, No checkpoints, No Story, No lip-synch in cutscenes and the animation is jerky for some reason, Fairly short game with limited amount of stages.
----------------------------------
First of all, I really don't think most of us would take gaming advice from a Wii fanboy/Xbox hater...that means YOU! We all know all the Wii games will get 10 ratings....[sarcasm]
Secondly, most don't care what Japan reviewers say since they are reviewing it for Japanese gamers not us. These are the gamers and reviewers who have made Dynasty Warriors 1-5 into a household name overseas because they keep buying the same game with a new number attached. If N3 got a 7 rating, I wonder what the DW games received.
Thirdly, most people are saying the demo is awesome not the full game, faridmon.

With the extreme framerate problems some 360 titles have had, I was quite pleased with this demo. Originally I had no intention of purchasing it, since I don't really like the style of game (except maybe the Kingdom Under Fire series). The demo changed my opinion, and I have since pre-ordered it.
Hopefully both Sony and Nintendo do a similar demo system on their respective consoles. Ultimately it's good for gamers.

Dude, chill. What you're saying is the damn truth and as a fellow gamer who has finished N3,i completely agree but let the people have their opinion
When the full version comes out, then a lot of people will finally see this turd for what it is

Dl'ed it, loved it, reserving it when I get dead rising. Yes it may be mindless hack and slashing....but I likes myself some mindless hack and slashing. Even though I've never played any of the DW games, I can safely say that N3 sh*ts all over the DW games. Plus those combos were crazy....animation was fluid, and the action was superb.

wow, sounds like faridmon has an axe to grind against N3.
Personally, I was impressed with the demo. I've liked all of Phantagram's releases for the Xbox so far, and N3 looks to me like a continuation of the great gameplay I loved in Kingdom Under Fire. I'm certainly preordering it.

I enjoyed the demo. It was hard at first, but once you start using the jump + Basic Attack + Basic Attack combo over and over it gets much easier.

Now I'm not sure if I should get this or wait for Samurai Warriors 2 to come out...
At least I won't already know the story for this one.

I loved the demo.
2768 kills 605 max combo.
This is a must buy for me now. Dynasty Warriors better do something radical in its next game 'cause this destroys it entirely.

this is probably the first game to catch my attention for the 360... yes, Oblviion was but I have a solid PC... I think this game looks solid... reminds me of Drakengard, at least the combat looks very similar and Drakengard was a really fun game despite it's somewhat awkward camera angles... if I ever do get a 360 this is going to be one of the first games I probably buy....

Some people have already played the demo and are saying no slowdown. Good. I downloaded the trailer and was surprised that the video chugged like a Ford Model T. I figured it was bad video capture and I'm glad that seems to be the case. I'll have to try it for myself this weekend. Glad that MS now lets us download and play games at the same time.

Camera is crummy, makes it hard to find the next batch of guys to obliterate, and there are no checkpoints and very hard. However these are very minor problems in my opinion, challenge is good and there have been much worse cameras in other games.
I'm not dissapointed at all.
