Table Tennis bounces onto XBL
Free demo of Rockstar's Ping-Pong hit now available on Xbox Live Marketplace; 526MB download offers one- and two-player offline modes.
Following speculation last week on the blog of Xbox Live programming director Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, a demo of Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Weighing in at 526MB, the demo features pro playable characters Mark and Liu Ping and a three-game set in China's National Table Tennis Auditorium. It has options for one- or two-player offline games, but it does not support Xbox Live matchups.
The Table Tennis release is the latest in a series of high-profile demos to make it onto Xbox Live. Like the recent Dead or Alive 4 demo, the Table Tennis demo arrives long after the full game was shipped to stores. Other recent demos to help Xbox 360 owners through the summer include The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II and Prey.
Besides being the subject of a fair amount of critical acclaim, Table Tennis also uses the same graphics technology as Rockstar's most anticipated release of next year. It is based on Take-Two's proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine, which will also power Grand Theft Auto IV. (Current-generation Grand Theft Autos use the RenderWare engine, which is now owned by Take-Two rival Electronic Arts.) GTA IV will arrive simultaneously on the 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 16, 2007, in the US, and October 19, 2007, in the UK.

I've played more of this game in store kiosks than I would in the demo, so it's redundant to me, but it is still nice that it is now available. I recommend all try it if they can, it's a very fun game.

Well, I'm gonna have to check this out. The graphics in it are pretty impressive. GTA should be kickass, provided the frame rate holds up for it.

It's fun to see that Microsoft puts out demos a month or two after the original game has hit store shelves. I thought demos were supposed to come out BEFORE the retail game, to give you an idea on how it is.

Yipee!
And what does this have to do with GTA IV? Well, they're both made by the same company, and there's speculation going around that they'll both use the same graphics engine.

As long as GTA4 looks and plays better than Saint's Row no one will have anything to worry about. Even though I'm a huge GTA fan I'm thinkin' 'bout gettin' Saint's Row just as a warm up to GTA4. If Sain't Row turns out decently maybe it'll even raise the bar on what GTA4 will be forced to accomplish (like online multiplayer and graphical prowess). Can't wait!

While the game does run on the same engine, unfortunately it would be pushing it to say that GTA IV will look like table tennis. Table tennis only had to draw two game characters and a background with items, while GTA will have to animate vast environments with many characters and items. Hopefully GTA IV will look great, but it wont be as good looking as this, warcraftfan234.

Personally I wish demo's would come out like a week or so after a game's release but hey better late then never. BTW/FTW and asking "what does this have to do with gta IV .. read the whole STORY all the way, to the end prior to commenting.
