Nintendo rolls out DS dates

Dalmatians trot to US in October, Yoshi goes back to the Island in November, Kirby squeaks out a squad in December; GBA FFV also dated for November.

Now that just about every single gamer has gone out and picked up a DS Lite, it's time Nintendo cashed in even more with software for the handheld. Today, the company announced final release dates for several DS games (and one Game Boy Advance game) that it is publishing.

October goes to the dogs, as the fourth Nintendogs title, Dalmatian and Friends, gets gamers' tails wagging on the 16th. The game was previously released in Europe, and will include six breeds of dogs. More critters hit the DS later that month, when Pokemon Ranger arrives on the 30th.

The all-important holiday season for the DS begins on November 6, when the quirky cheerleading action of Elite Beat Agents prances into stores. If a rhythm-based male revue doesn't sound appealing, Yoshi's Island 2, set for release on November 13, offers classic platform gaming.

December 4 will see a pair of DS titles hit shelves. The game that has players building robots and blowing up robots, Custom Robo Arena, will be released that Monday. Also arriving at retail will be the latest adventure for Kirby, which was today officially named Kirby Squeak Squad.

As for other platforms, Nintendo also announced the release date for Final Fantasy V Advance for the Game Boy Advance. Square Enix's role-playing game will begin adventuring November 6. And while it's not exactly news, it is good to hear that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is still on track for a fall release on both the GameCube and Wii.

Nintendo would be nothing without their handhelds. I look forward to the Wii but majority of their profit comes from their handhelds. I am very impressed with all the great DS games.

Note that this is just speculation, and is only based on logic. But, since IGN.com came up with the same solution, and the speculated date keeps Nintendo's promise of being released after September, this date seems to be accurate enough to trust. That is, only if Nintendo wasn't joking about this "secret message" when they announced it early.

If this date is correct, this also means that the Gamecube and Wii versions of Twilight Princess will arrive on October 2 as well.

And that's all I have to say.

GamingTarget.com has probably found the solution to the encoding.

They say that, starting on the fourth quarter (Sunday, October 1st) a new game would be released every Monday except for October 2, November 20 and November 27.

Three possible dates could be announced, but since November 27 is after Black Friday (the greatest date of buying video games) and November 20 is after the Playstation 3 release (Nintendo would want a jump start on their console), October 2 seems to be the most likely date that Nintendo's Wii will arrive, 11 days after the TGS 2006.

Nothing wrong with delays (as long as they're not too long), would rather wait for a game thats polished to perfection than one thats released too soon full of bugs.

as long as the release date doesn't change for FFV....SquareEnix has a bad habit about changing release dates...then again, doesn't every game company?

I remember when Gamespot had Twilight Princess listed for a March 2005 release. I'm tired of getting excited about games because industry news sources "in the know" jump the gun about release dates. These professionals should know by now that software companies sit on finished products until it is best for investors, not for fans...

Phantom Hourglass is SUPPOSED to be out before Twilight Princess, although I don't know if Nintendo changed their minds about that.

The updated Final Fantasy III, last I heard, is coming out August 13. Now EBgames (ever reliable, *snort*) says 11th November.

Yoshi's Island 2 - cool, but just give us the Wii release date Nintendo! Grr!

    I can't help but laugh...

ChickenOverLord wishes Kirby (and others) to die, but for some reason has an avatar picture of a manly warrior riding a pink, rather silly looking lizard-thing. Yeah, it can do that tail whack move -- I know that. But Kirby can become a Ninja....a Knight....a ball of plasma....breathe fire....turn to stone....a UFO....a tornado....shall I continue?

I only point this out because it seems he wishes the cutesy characters to die -- even though that pink 'thing' is so much LESS than Kirby, or any Pokemon is.

and for the record, yes, Golden Axe is a great game....but you gotta admit, those things didn't look exactly ...manly.
