Next-gen Star Wars video leaked

[UPDATE] YouTube clip shows "pre-visualization" of Jedis giving demonstrations of The Force to unwilling stormtroopers.

At E3 2006, attendees had to be in the loop to get a peek at what LucasArts had in store for the next-gen edition of its unnamed Star Wars game. Behind closed doors, elite members of the press go to check out the latest technology from the house that Lucas built, including footage of what is believed to be the cornerstone of the upcoming game--the outer space voodoo magic knows as The Force.

Now, an Internet-connected computer is all gamers need to see the Jedi powers in action. A minute-long video has surfaced on YouTube.com, and shows unidentified Jedis demonstrating The Force on some unsuspecting Empire minions.

LucasArts hasn't detailed the new games, set for release on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 next year, but if the video is any indication, they'll involve plenty of telekinesis and rag-doll effects.

At E3, the video was accompanied by an interactive demo featuring some tongue-in-cheek Star Wars humor (such as Jar-Jar Binks frozen in Carbonite). For more information on LucasArts' presentation, read GameSpot editor Brad Shoemaker's take from E3.

[UPDATE] LucasArts contacted GameSpot to clarify a few pieces of information. The video was given out to members of Hyperspace, the company's online Star Wars community. The clip is also a "pre-visualization"--a video made to give people an idea of what to expect in the upcoming game, and is not running on the game's engine.

Yeah, it is not running on the games engine. It is eye candy. Like a concept car show, showing idea, but never anything that you could buy. As a huge Star Wars fan, I hope this game turns out to be as great as the concept.

Wait a minute. Let's not get our hopes up. Remember when we got the images when Nintendo unveiled the first screenshots of what was believed to be the Zelda game for the game cube. Fans went crazy when they reviled that crappy drawing of Link (though it came out even better than what we expected)

WOW! Now show me what the actual game will be like. Also...be a real videogame journalist by getting quality video footage from developers, instead of posting a link to a leaked copy. Honestly, unless the game is at least semi-complete and running on the game's engine, don't bother. No more "Pre-visualization" crap!!

I saw it, it was cool, but I realized that in the second half, it didn't look like the engine and the moves were soooo cool, but seemed unpractical in a combat scenario. Still, the video was sweet!

in my opinion, NOTHING can stand up to the greatness that is KOTOR and the sheer joy a true star wars fan reaps from battlefront. This game does look rather promising, but i was actually dissapointed in the JK series. KOTOR would be absolutly unbeatable if the battle engine was more free...id like to just strike down my enemies myself...not point, click, and watch. but i digress, i am curious not about this new games visuals...but its story, as we know nothing about it.

I want more Star Wars PC games. I agree with a previous poster that there is a whole expanded universe that so far has not even been tapped into yet. I mean, KOTOR's (I and II) story was completely made up and the only thing that linked it to Star Wars was the fact that it had SW characters and lightsabers and the force. There are plenty of old Sith and Jedi wars that preceeded (in timeline) the movies that they could have drawn on. But they didn't, probably they didn't know about it or there was some sort of copywrite thing, but I don't think so as Lucas owns most of this stuff right?

I personally want another game like TIE Fighter, X-Wing, XvTIE, or X-Wing Alliance. Those were all great games back in the day and I am surprised that Lucasarts has not capitalized on the following that those games had and still have.

Battlefront is weaksause in my opinion. Its a no skill first person shooter with graphical flaws, quirky gameplay, and crappy animations. I'd pay $60 for a Star Wars Battlefield 2 clone and I'm sure many other people here would as well.

I know I'll kill the author who killed chewie!!! Poor Han he was broke, know what was really broke though? That series!!!

The games looks good but that movie was not actual gameplay , would like a bit more lightsaber action then what they showed but then again that was only a small part (hopefully)

    Battlfront 3 YEA!!!!!

Saw it days ago. How should I say this...OLD.

Actually joking, just got to it before GS did.

Anyways, it looks sweet, but I wish there was much light saber play. The jedi was completly owning everyone with his powers.

The clip looked amazing....so what. Episode 3 looked great too and it was barely a descent game. Unless the next Star War game is KOTR3 or something similar to that then there will be heavy odds against it. I say this because most like ly if it is not KOTR then it will be another episode clone with better graphics. Hasn't Lucas robbed his Star War fans of enough money yet? I looked it up on the internet and there actually is awhole universe out there. Even Chewbaca is dead. How about bringing stuff like that into play. They even have whole new races too.

Lucasarts said at the ComicCon that they're working on a game for the Wii, and yes it'll feature lightsaber battles which means that wii owners will get their own exclusive.

    IgnatiusX

    "Um........ No Wii version? "

"Uh yeah, remember the Wii is really not capable of that kind of game. I'm constantly surprised by people who seem not get that the Wii is not even close to the same processing and graphical league as the 360, which is in turn behind the Ps2 (this is "in theory in the best case" of course)."

Rofl. It said CG footage, it wasn't running on the game's engine. This is a movie, not the game.
    ...............................................

Does not matter if it's the CG video or not......wii will never be able to handle even the CG, so the point in your comment is moot.
