A Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends tournament, sponsored by ATI, Intel, and Logitech, will dole out $100,000 in the coming months, Microsoft announced today. The sequel to the real-time-strategy game Rise of Nations--which won GameSpot's award for 2003's best PC game--will see tournaments on September 15, October 13, and November 17 to determine the participants in the final match on January 12, 2007. The winner of the tournament's finale, dubbed the Ultimate Championship, will receive $40,000 of the $100,000 prize money. Even unskilled gamers can walk away with shwag: Computer hardware from Logitech and ATI will be "randomly awarded" to participants, Microsoft said. Visit the Rise of Legends Web site for more information on the tournament.

I don't know, I bought it and I thought it was an OK strategy game, I don't know, I just don't see why they're having a $100,000 tournament for it. It didn't seem very active when I tried to join online games, but I guess Microsoft is just trying to find new ways of spending their money.

GS' review for this game was appalling. It's the Shenmue Effect V2.0!

Personally, I think ROL was underrated on gamespot. It's a diferent style of RTS and it seems the reviewer didn't like RTSes.

BHG pwns to put such great prizes on their tournaments!
