New COD2 map pack invades XBL

As promised, Invasion Map Pack with five new Call of Duty 2 multiplayer maps is now available over Xbox Live for 800 points.

Activision has announced that the latest map pack for Call of Duty 2 is now available on Xbox Live. The Invasion Map Pack features five new maps for use in multiplayer games and costs gamers 800 Marketplace points ($10).

The download takes frag-fests to five new locations across war-torn WWII-era Europe and North Africa, including Antonville, St. Louet, and Amaye sur Seulles in France; Alam Halfa in Egypt; and Rostov in Russia.

This is the third map pack released for Call of Duty 2 over Xbox Live. Previously released were the Bonus Map Pack and the Skirmish Map Pack, which together added four new multiplayer battlegrounds.

Call of Duty 2 is rated T for Teen, and the Game of the Year Edition (which includes a free download of the Skirmish Map Pack) is now available for $59.99. For more on Call of Duty 2, check out the full review and GameSpot's Summer Assault tournament.

The maps are good, but can Activision get off their ass and actually make you maps! Out of the 9 news maps out now only 2 are new maps, the others are just relite levels from the campaign.

once again the xbox gamers get ripped off, the pc version of the game is $39.99 and the xbox360 version is $99.99 (australian prices) with multiplay for FPS better on the pc and the maps patches addons free it seems strange that companies are willing to much us gamers pay so much for new maps that should be given to us for free after outlaying a large amount of cash for the game in the first place the new map pack is going to cost me $22 AUS just doesnt seem right...

Im not paying for these, and if they keep this up, I will not be getting COD3. We are getting screwed compared to the PC users.

ok so these maps are less memorable than the originals, they need to make some key bases and such on these new maps as about four of them are based around a church.

HOw about having variable weather conditions and times of day for free download.

And has anyone from the uk realised that the americans even get chaper downloads than us, realise due to vat and such games are more expensive here, More like $100, but come on!!, downloads are more to!!

this is the good thing about having the pc version, everything is free, plus you get custom made maps, and mods like blood and fun stuff like that

This is what I don't get.

You pay 60 dollars plus for CD2 just like a pc user.

Yet you gladly pay an extra 10 dollars for content that pc users get for FREE.

What is it about 360 users that screams. I can be taken advantage of?

You 360 owners SHOULD be mad. I would be on your end of the boat. You payed for the same content we did so why are you being treated so diffrently?

CoD2 makes it really easy to play without buying the new maps.... there are already a lot of great ones... but 4 more isnt bad either for ten bucks.... 75 dollars for one game is tough to swalllow though

have this game on the PC, would rather play it on the 360 but can't justify buying the game again which cost more than the PC plus it only supports 8 people compared to 32 on the pc

I don't care about the price. If I like the games and they're supporting the game by making maps then I will play them.If you don't like the price
go to the forums or go and send Activision a message.Complaining here does NOTHING.

The pricing in't so bad, but thought a £1 a map would be better and more chance to preview them first.
When you think you can buy a live game or even a really good xbox game you missed for about £6, it seems steep, no less they are well tested and good maps, but very reused from their texture set etc..

HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT ENTIRE DOWNLOADS FOR OBLIVION ARE UNDER A MEG. DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK YOU ARE PAYING TO UNLOCK A DOOR TO A DUNGEON/QUEST THAT IS ALREADY THERE?

YOU CAN SEE HOW BIG THE MAP PACKS ARE, 300 MEGS OR SOMETHING, THE NEW OBLIVION DUNGEON IS UNDER A MEG!!

    Response to bunchofpixels:

Why do you comment and insult when you don't even read the article properly? It says, 5 maps, not 4. Open your eyes and read properly.

And by the way, ten dollars for five maps is an incredible deal. That's two dollars a map. The previous maps were two and a HALF dollars a piece. Plus, do you know how much blood and sweat goes into those maps? Considering that it took them hundreds of hours to create and dozens of employees to pay, two dollars per map is a good deal.

i have no plan to get this map pack, the maps in the game already are good enough for me. 800 points for a map pack seems a tad steep if you ask me, with that you could get 2 decent XBL Arcade games, which would be better.

As long as they're quality maps I'm not going to complain about the cost. But still, these little costs do add up. I'm really sick of seeing pathetic attempts at making cash by some companies though. Namely those addons for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. They may only cost something like $4 USD but they've been trash so far. Horse armour does nothing but add a single new skin to the game (somethign that should be free in all rights) and I never heard much good about that solar thing that was added.

Anyway I don't even own a 360 so I'm pretty annoyed that us PC owners don't get the maps. Even if we did I wouldn't pay for them, but I'm sure plenty of people would. The only reason PC's probably don't get them is because they have no way to charge us for them.... Don't know whatever happened to giving away a free gift though.

You know it's funny how people always manage to find something to b!tch, whine, moan or otherwise complain about! Ever hear "If ya have nothing good to say, say nothing at all"? Well now you have!

This is a great console technology for us to appreciate, downloading maps, add-ons, modules for a relatively low cost. People work hard at developing these maps/add-ons for us to enjoy with other friends online. Would you have me complain of your workmanship, whatever it is you do? No? then STFU!

.....although $2 per map isn't unreasonable I still feel like I'm being nickel and dimed by developers. I swear I've probably spent up to $100 on that bloody marketplace! Microsoft and other game companies are making too much money on us. If they're going to charge us so much for these microtransactions they should make the gold service free!

I cant wait to get home and DL the new maps. I just wish people would stop b*tching about the cost of these maps. You can still play the game without the premium maps. Buy them if you want, otherwise just shut up about it. No one here was frugle about buying an XBOX 360. If you want nice toys you got to front the money. No one who buys a Porsche b*tches about how much it costs.

calibretto 1 the "micro" transactions would refer to user made maps and content that microsoft mentioned would be possible for gamers to trade in the future. Im glad that, even though new content may costs money, that game developers r still creating content giving the game more replay value.

xmgo, by the time PC gamers get the new maps, COD3 will be around the corner.

Regarding metroidlink1030's comment regarding the absence of the Prey demo (for which I have been eagerly waiting), I truly believe M$ is holding it so it doesn't steal any thunder from the other FPS games that are currently looking for your gaming dollars. Notice that PDZ, G.R.A.W., and CoD2 are all trying to sell new maps within the past two weeks? I suspect they're trying to maximize their revenue on these map packs before they release a look at what's shaping up to be a pretty impressive FPS experience. It's an unfortunate possibility, but a likely one nonetheless.

I downloaded them about an hour ago, and they're pretty sweet. A lot more close-quarters for intense firefights. Get a lot of your buddies on and duke it out. This brings me to another point, though. They seemed to have put this on Marketplace without a problem...what's going on with Prey?
