Street Fighter II not hitting XBL in Q2?

Capcom's brawler appears to be on the verge of missing its anticipated release window for third time.

When Capcom first announced in January that it was bringing Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting to the Xbox 360, it said the game would be available "in early 2006." Later that month, the publisher adjusted that time frame to "Q1 2006." Late last month, when GameSpot previewed the title, Capcom then indicated a Q2 release for the game.

With time rapidly running short in the second quarter of the year, GameSpot asked Capcom if the game's release window had been pushed back yet again. A representative replied, "Capcom has not yet announced a specific release date or pricing for this game."

Earlier this week, some Street Fighter fans were buzzing over a July 30 release date for the game listed on the official Australian Xbox Web site, but that entry has since been changed to read simply "2006." The American Xbox Web site is a little more precise at the moment, giving a "Summer 2006" date for the game. This year, the last day of summer is September 23.

    im just wondering why a lot of people here are waiting for the sf2 game for the xbox live when its already available on other systems like pc, psp, ps2, gc and also have online play??? are you stuck with your xbox/360? if you itch to play why wait?

    i love capcom and i own most of their games. just tired of same games for a newer console that dont give enough reasons to be bought again.

    love to combo and finishing with a dragon punch (shoryuken....)
    tatsukimaki...what duh......( ah-tek-tek-na-get! eat my feet YEAH)

    if you dont know what im talking about, then maybe you should google about "xlink" and some other ways to play online ^_^.

    since they are taking so long to make this one game why dont they make a few other games to come out at the same time? like one of the best games ever made "killer instinct"?

    yeah, we pretty much have no choice but to wait... we can complain, or just be nice about it, either way, the game comes out on the same day... it is strange though... SF has been sliding, and in the shadows, so has uMK3... they were suppose to come out together, and MK's press has fallen off the planet...

    I think a lot of you are directing you're anger in the wrong direction. I'm not quite sure why people are **** at microsoft, they arent the ones making SF or the majority of other xbox live games. If games aren't coming out fast enough or are being delayed thats not MS's fault thats the companies making the game.

    As for Street fighter it sucks it keeps getting delayed but no company would delay it unless there was a valid reason, would you rather them release a game that crashes on you left and right or would you rather wait another month or two for them to fix the problem(s). A lot of unforseen problems can happen whe devloping any type of software, i think some of the consumers should cut these companies some slack. After all it's not like they intentionally try to piss off their customers, they are doing the best the game.

    Cant wait for this game to come out though, its gonna be sweet!

    It seems that a lot of people here are pissed at M$ for not having any new content on XBLA to tide them over. How about getting some NEW games to come out to help out during this dry spell. 10-15 year old games are enjoyable but what gets my juices flowing are the new, next generation games. So quit spewing lies and get the games out Peter Moore!

    I have been waiting so long fo SF II...I hope they are addressing issues to try to make this game as lag free as possible. I don't know how much longer I can wait ( not that I have a choice ) but a lag free SF II is a good SF II.

    The people at Capcom are perfectionists. Their games stand the test of time as being extraordinary. Playing SFII Hyper Fighting online is the ONLY reason so far as to why I'd purchase an X360 (online play) and I'd patiently wait for Capcom to do the game justice.

    Well i couldnt wait any longer... so i went out and got myself Street fighter alpha for the "PS2".... Look what you made me do Microsoft... I went out and bought a game for one of your rival systems...

    the only down side is the fact that there is no online play on the PS2, i could of gotten the anniversary version for XBOX, but i decided not to just to punish you......

    There is ABSOLUTELY no way that they could be holding out on the SFII demo because they want to thwart sales of the ps3. The people that want a PS3 are ALREADY gonna buy it. I wanna freaking play SFII! C'mon CAPCOM!!!

    Halo 2 plays lag free around 90% of the time I would say. yet they can't get a 2d fighter from 15 years ago.. wich has had online versions wich work rather well already made. There should be no hold up. I'm beginning to agree with that one guys conspiricay theory that they are holding off to hit harder during the ps3 launch or else.. since Capcom is a japanese company they may have been offered a deal from Sony or Nintendo to screw with MS being an american company.... it definatly stinks of some system war propaganda! They trojan horsed theirselves into the xbox live marketplace only to give false promises to hurt the name of Xbox live...

    im getting sick of waiting around not only for this game but for ANYTHING new to come out on LIVE..ive had the 360 since jan and only 2-4 games and a few usless theme and gamers pics have been released.i can understand wantin to have a good lineup to compeat with sony and nintendo,but dam what about us the ones that own the 360 NOW?do you not give a crap about us?

    what was the use in getting a year head start on sony and nintendo if your just going to hold EVERYTHING back like this?I WANT MY DAM MONEYS WORTH NOW MS...

    If it takes a little longer to get the multiplayer right, I'd rather wait. I guess they could have released it earlier and left the multiplayer code as is, so it's good that they are at least hoping to get it all nice and smooth.

    I herd the problem is getting the to play online and keeping the game down to 61 MB which is supposed to be a size for XBLA games so the they can fit on to the memory unit. If this true they should excuse the size limit cuz the 256MB memory unit will be out at the end of the year

    All these Live Arcade games like Galaga, UMK3 and Sonic probably take a month tops to port, upscale, optimize, whatever. Then they get submitted it to Microsoft, who delay the games for 6-8 months because they think rationing games out will keep gamers 'keen'. A bit like playing hard to get on a date.

    Unless a proper explanation is given, I'll just make up my own stories that some jackasses screwed up. I'm thinking about destroying my 360 and posting a video of its destruction on the internet just out of contempt. I'm so angry with the lack of games that I feel like headbutting a nun.

    People were playing Lumines Live at E3. It's in playable form! Now release it on Live, thanks, and give us the extra skins later on. Drip feeding games to us might help protect the smaller developers like Pop Cap Games because they have less to compete with, but it's a disservice to people who bought the console. Live Arcade will get crushed by the sheer volume of Nintendo's Virtual Console.

    Besides games, why are there only about 2 music videos and 5 movie trailers on Live? Even game videos are surprisingly few and far between. I'd say less than half of 360 games have a trailer on there. Where is Phantasy Star Universe? I can find several trailers for that game on Gamespot, but none on Live. I mean, how the hell do they manage to have so little content?! It's like a deliberate attempt.

    None of you wouldn't even be having this topic to post about if MS made a REAL backwards compatability list that included the Anniversary Edition. They put crap games on the list but leave one of the three best fighters off (Soul Calibur and MK Deadly Alliance being the other two). I think we need a petition going to get Anniversary Edition on the list hopefully it already has the online programming. Makes me glad I kept my Street Fighters for my PS2...

    To be honest having played the original of this game years back and owning it already, I would have prefered the Street Fighter Alpha Series of games with faster action. Looking back and playing this game today seems a little bit more than dated. It actually doesn't seem like that much fun. So hopefully they are tweaking it so that it doesn't show its age so much. Also I hope it controls better than most of their original Xbox 2D games did. I feel like I haven't played a good 2D fighter on a console since the Sega Saturn which was the 2D Capcom and SNK king with excellent control. So I hope it comes out right and Capcom can work with the 360's controllers. If they can make the game feel like it should on the 360 then I have no problem with waiting. I just pray for better controls than Capcom vs SNK because the series sucked on the Xbox.

    To everyone blaiming Microsoft, pull your heads from your butts. Last time I checked this was a Capcom game. If this thing isn't ready to go, take it up with them. Nothing more pathetic then gamers whinning about delays and blaiming the wrong people while their doing it.

    man I just can't understand why people get a worked up about a game being delayed ......it happens all of the time. You think that there are not going to be any delays on the PS3 or the Wii???...Hummmmmmm...................get over it

    BTW the 360 is the best Next Gen console out at this time...enjoy what you have and stop crying(you know who you are)!!!!!!!

I've been waiting since the announcement for this to come out.. i check XBLA every day lately.. wtff... well with all this time they're taking it better be 100% lag free when its out.     You guys have to realize that your all cannon fodder for Microsoft. They dont care if your pissed the prey demo isnt out, or SF2 isnt on XBL marketplace. If anything its just churning the wheels of the hype machine. You can complain on message boards all you want but everyone (especially Microsoft) knows that you're gonna be the first person to line up and buy this stuff.

    That's right. Because we all know these guys will complain but be the first to defend MS/Xbox against anyone. I'd love to be some of these game companies who delay and make defective products - just to have their customers defend their incompetence. You guys could hold them accountable and take your business elsewhere - that's how the real world works, that's how you start to see improvement.

    how hard can it be to port this to the XB360? when you couple this with the abscence of other 'killer' XBLA titles (galaga, pac man, sonic, UMK3 etc) it certainly feels like MS are holding back thier big guns for a blitz nearer to the PS3/Wii launches.
    While this is an understandable move from a marketing point of view, it is yet another prime example of early adopters getting the short end of the stick.
    Admittedly I viewed the XBLA games as icing on the XB360 cake - but given the dearth of quality releases at this point it would be really nice to have some sidelines to keep me amused! Heaven forbid that I dust off my dreamcast for some SF action!
    With all the time being taken, this had better be a 100% perfect translation...

    This is taking too long and the first people that should be punished is anybody that speculated it could be released much earlier. Stop promising release dates that absolutely can not be met. It is much better to give us a date that seems much further away and be early then to say "Jan." and be 6-whenever months late. People love this game and even a 10 plus year old game has hype. So it isn't something to just say "Oh well, so we are a little late."

    The folks are bloodthirsty. You made them this way.
