Saints Row demo ganging up on 360s

Game's official Web site confirms that a sampling of the rugged street-thug game is headed to XBL in August.

The hot question on Xbox 360 owners' minds isn't so much "When is [insert game's name here] coming out?" as it is "When is [insert game's name here]'s demo coming out?" The try-before-you-buy model used over Xbox Live Marketplace has become a huge hit with fans, and news from THQ today adds one more game to the growing list of free trials.

On the official Saints Row Web site, a post in the news section informs gamers that the game's demo will be coming to Xbox Live on August 1, before the retail version's August 29 release. No details have been released on the demo other than that it will show off the single-player portion of the game.

Those who can't wait until August 1 can try out the game tomorrow...if they can get down to Anaheim, California. Saints Row will be playable at Power 106's Powerhouse 2006 event at the Arrowhead Pond. More info on the event is available at Power 106's Web site.

Saints Row is rated M for Mature and will retail for $59.99. For more on the thug's life that is the game, jack some of GameSpot's previous coverage.

    MAN o Man...from wut im seein and readin..this is going to be a Advanced GTA..I would get this and HAve a ball..cuz.. i know it isnt goin to be anotha 25 to life..its going to be a very good San Andreas rip-off..But im one of those..who choses PS ova Xbox...so i wont get to enjoy it..ohh well..il find a friend with one

    I'm buying this game over GTA IV. The storylines in GTA just don't interest me anymore, and considering this game has somewhat open-ended gameplay (by which I mean you don't complete a certain mission to unlock another mission you unlock them with respect.) it should be more entertaining to pick and choose your own missions...at least I think. The only thing I wish was different was that you could join different games not just the 3rd(?) street saints. Or be able to break away into your own gang that would be the best of these games I think...APB is another interesting title like this though so we'll see if a new franchise takes over or if GTA's name can keep them in control.

    i guarantee u all the people that are hating on this game, is because its a X360 exclusive these ps2 boys cant play it. The next gta game for them is oct. 2007 and their jealous cuz we have something great to play until GTA4. plus theyll have to spend 5-600 on a ps3 b4 they can play the next GTA themed game.

    it does look good....but there has yet to be a game of this type thats been as entertaining as any in the GTA series....true crime? 25 to life? driver? maybe im missing one that compares to GTA and if i am please tell me cuz i will buy it today....people like GTA in spite of the fact that its never been a great looking game....going online is going to be the next big evolution of this genre and im actually kinda hyped to see how this one turns out

    how can all you guys say "GTA CLone" i should hope not. Terrible graphics, crap physics. I know it gets rated high but it is THE most overrated series in video games. It sound to me like some people got tired of a mediocre game and wanted to improve the genre. Was NFL 2k a madden clone? NO, just another game in the genre, why would they want to copy GTA when they can make somehting better. Plus you havent played it either. This game, from all information presented on this site and others, has serious potential to be the GTA killer.

    This game looks hot. Dont hate. The character creation system sets it apart from GTA right out of the gate.

    -Plus the graphics are way way better.

    Dude if that event was in Anaheim and a Power 106 concert to top it off?? Then if you're looking for witnessing gang violence you have to look no further. Don't bother looking at the game just look around you and keep your wallet in your front pocket.

    Putting the demo on XBL is probably one of the best and worst decision of MS. The best because consumers can have a real idea of the games before buying. The worst, because since the beginning, it just showed how ordinary the games are, so I did not buy a lot of games for the 360 yet.

    Let's hope we'll have a good demo for this game.

    atleast this will be much much better than other gta clones like driver 4 and true crime 2 ,gta 4 aint gonna be out until oct 2007 and there aint no good news about vice city stories on the psp ,we know that vc stories is coming in oct 06 , till than we can play saints row

    We say GTA clone because every game that is in the same vain as GTA has either bombed or sucked ass. That includes The Godfather, State of Emergency, 25 to Life...hell, even 50 cent bulletproof.
