When Captain Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean fame was revealed to be featured in the PlayStation 2 game Kingdom Hearts II, many fans were crushed to learn that heartthrob Johnny Depp would not voice the game adaptation of his film character.

That won't be the case with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow, a PC and PlayStation 2 game from Bethesda Softworks. Depp will reprise his role as Sparrow, the suave buccaneer from 2004's Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (for which Depp was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar) and the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Gamers will control both Sparrow and Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom in the films) as they explore environments based on the movie franchise. Action will take place both on land and sea, with players swashbuckling through levels and learning new moves and attacks along the way.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow is being developed by Seven Studios and Bethesda, and will be released on June 27. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
