Sega has announced that its PlayStation 2 game tie-in to the Appleseed Ex Machina film will be available in a limited-edition box set. It will include a 1/8-scale figurine of Deunan, the story's heroine, and expanded reprints of the Appleseed Side A & B books from Kondansha Anime KC. The game itself will more or less follow the film's story, will feature two playable characters--Deunan and Briareos--and will combine shooting and fighting sequences to capture the pacing and action of the movie. The boxed set will retail for a relatively hefty 11,550 yen (about $100), while the no-frills version will sell for 7,140 yen ($62). Both versions will be released Septempber 28, although the movie is not scheduled for release until 2007.
