Boll amends boxing challenge

Director still wants to step in the ring with his critics, just not for as long as originally stated.

On Monday, director Uwe Boll, the man behind such critically brutalized films as House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and BloodRayne, challenged his critics to step into a boxing ring with him.

The director has issued an open casting call of sorts to find his five most outspoken critics, provided they are men, weigh between 140 and 190 pounds, and can offer up two examples of reviews that panned his movies in 2005. During the last two days of filming on Boll's upcoming game-to-movie adaptation Postal, the director said he would step into the ring for a "10-bout match" with each of the five selected critics.

However, when asked by GameSpot how he planned to train for five 10-round fights in two days, Boll said the press release was mistaken, adding "Three rounds should be enough per fight."

But be warned, would-be Boll bashers. The director told GameSpot he has previous boxing experience. While Boll said that he hasn't trained in 10 years, boxing is apparently an interest that has found its way into his professional life, much like games. According to Boll's official Web site, he worked on a documentary called Boxing in 1995.

I think people are being a bit hard on Uwe, is not his fault!! He's been brainwashed by Jack Thompson & Hillary Clinton as part of their grand scheme of "Computer Games are bad, M'kay!!"
Who else do u reckon bankrolls his projects? no one in their right mind would do so without an ulterior motive!!, then they can just point to his past attempts and say "Told You so", and this is just another stunt as they can say Uwe makes films of computer games and look at this exhibition of violence hence, Computer games make people violent!!

But still his movies suck and tarnish the good name of gaming so FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!

This sounds like when G'n'R frontman Axl Rose challenged numerous people to a fight (in the lyrics to "Get In the Ring") including Bob Guccione Jr.,
who accepted. They never did fight, so I guess Axl was more talk than action....

So, let me get this straight...Uwe Boll's solution to getting critics to stop bashing his movies is to let them start bashing.......him? I don't exactly see the logic in this decision.

Wait...did I just use "logic" and "Boll" favorably in the same paragraph?

Pablo you are the most stupid Ewe Boll fan ever.

By that same logic Doctors have a hard job and we should excuse surgical mistakes because it's a team effort we shouldn't blame one individual even if he is inexperienced like Ewe.

We should also excuse cell phone manufacturers deffects too because manufacturing a cell phone is a team effort. Have you ever tried making a cell phone? I can tell you from experience it is a difficult process.

See how stupid you sound Pablo620?

Pablo620 I'm inviting you to a boxing match as long as you are between 140 and 190 pounds. I will knock you out cold.

This has to be most rediculous and psychotic idea I have ever heard. It can go several ways...maybe Ewe has built up so much steam from the critics reviews he has turned into a lethal bomb ready to explode...and maybe he wil bite their ears off out of blind rage. It's also possible the critics rage from his atrocious films would inspire a humanitarian "save the games" cause which would fule them and their passion to eliminate any future film abominations from Ewe.

Who cares if directing films is difficult? What are we his parents? aahh Ewe you did just a good job on your widdle filmy wilmy! Yes you did! Who's a good boy? Yes you such a widdle boy Ewe!

If your films suck, they suck. Quit making them. We don't pretend to be directors but everyone except idiots like Pablo620 who likes Ewes crap has seen enough films to distinguish between quality and crap...

And with that I'll lay down my gloves...too easy.

Uwe should just STFU. Seriously he's really asking to get his ass whooped. Him knowing boxing is not going to save his life against others that know how to fight better than him. Besides what kind of idiot is he to think the critic would get into a stupid boxing challenge. The guy's just mad that he can't make a damn decent movie. Surely there's reasons why the critics are shooting all your films Uwe. Learn from your mistakes. Why just make movies based on games. That's like just depending on the license like games that are based on movies. Hardly ever see a movie to game that's a must have title. Same is for the games to movies. Maybe if this dude makes something decent that's original he might turn some head. These games were never his properties in the first place and he's really giving many games bad names by altering plots unnecessarily. His own imagaination and inspiration is non-existent hence he will never be recognised in the positive category.

Notes to Uwe Boll: 1) Don't fight them if YOU'RE mad at them and they're not. 2) Be a boxer, not a movie maker; that way, you save everybody the pain.

good point. he's an old man, he probably gets cut easily. and probably isn't as quick with his hands as he was 10 years ago. i'm just hoping someone in their 20's, who weighs close to 190, who can actually fight takes up the challenge. hell, i wish i could

Mr_Flesh, having both feet nailed to the floor is a bad strategy in boxing. i'd personally like to see someone trap him in the corner (so he has nowhere to go) and beat the hell out of him

It really doesn't matter how easy or hard it is to make a good movie. A horrible movie, is a horrible movie. I couldn't care less how hard it is to make a great film, and many have been made and apreciated. Let's be real, if you direct a flop, veiwers and critics aren't going to say "It's okay, it's not easy directing, better luck next time." If that were the case, Uwe Boll would be challenging his critics to make a movie of their own.

If you have seen his movies and Im not saying you havent, you know just how atrociously bad they are. The thing that I hate the most about the guy is not the lack of quality of the man's work, its how he goes about getting funding and using loopholes to get tax write offs and such. It is my hope and Im sure the hope of lots of others that not one single person goes to see any subsequent movie that he puts out, but Im sure someone will.

Luckily he won't be getting anywhere near Metal Gear Solid. Here's one of the quotes off wikipedia.org

"Boll said that French scriptwriters approached him with the screenplay for Metal Gear Solid; however, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, who has confirmed that a Metal Gear movie is in the works, has vehemently denied Boll the rights to produce or direct the film."

    Hideo Kojima is awesome XD

Well, at least we know we can't direct unlike Dr. Boll who keeps trying..I think it's fair to state if you like his movies or not..that's why we're in a forum, you would know that if you got the memo's..I personal seen HOTD and BloodRayne, two of the worst movies ever made IMO...so it's only fair if I give my own advise to Boll and tell him to quit making movies all together and let someone else have a shot...please.

You all seem to despise the man rather than his films, i'm not about t say his films are good but look at it this way, Ed Wood got a biopic made of his life, did peckinpah, hitchcock or Kubrick etc? maybe you should all respect man that despite tremendous adversity still follows his dream rather than like so many, chases some one elses

Unfortunately, I've seen Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark and they were both WEAK at best. That's why it doesn't make sense that Boll is mad at reviewers for their poor reviews; they're absolutely right!!!!!! So either Boll is looking for some more publicity or he just wants to take out his anger on some critics who are just doing their jobs. But its probably both.
