Oblivion Mehrunes' Razor add-on dated

Downloadable quest will allow PC and Xbox 360 role-players to explore the largest dungeon in Cyrodiil later this week.

Bethesda Softworks today put a release date on the latest add-on for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. PC and Xbox 360 players eager for more content will be able to download the Mehrunes' Razor quest for a fee starting Thursday.

The new quest revolves around a powerful mage in search of the Daedric artifact Mehrunes' Razor. The Razor has the ability to instantly kill enemies, and the mage intends to use it to overthrow the Empire. Players will have to explore the largest dungeon in the game in order to ferret out the mage and claim the Razor as their own. The quest will also add 17 new magic items and a dozen new books, notes, and journals to read.

Mehrunes' Razor will be the most expensive download yet, coming in at $2.99 for PC users and 250 Marketplace points ($3.13) for Xbox 360 owners. For more information, check out the official Oblivion downloads Web site.

When will this be available in another countries, (mexico) i live in the border and things that xbox live offers are different, here in mexico all those new quest are not available, only pictures and themes, i wonder when will it be available, a friend connected to the U.S. xbox live service from here only cause he used a prepaid card that he bought in U.S., well i the point is that all downloads should be available in all countries at the same time, i don't want to start using a memory card to download stuff there and then take it to my xbox, i'm just separated by a bridge to get my downloads.

I purchased all of the mods (feeling stupid about that) with the hope that maybe the quality would pick up, but it was very disappointing. The Mehrunes Razor quest was slightly ridiculous. The big "quest" had a very thin and cliched story, and it was all told in journals and quest logs. There was no original dialog at all. Bethesda, you disappointment me.

Yo, I bought the (gasp) $2.99 expansion, and (having played it for a couple of hours now) it is indeed huge, there are some really great magic items (check out the Assassin's gear), and I'm not even close to having finished the mod. Maybe I'm too easy to please, but I have gotten pleasure out of all the mods I have bought from Bethesda.

True, the Orrery was more fun doing the quest than having the thing work as far as what your character gets, but the graphics are make up for it; it's fascinating to watch the mechanism.

The Wizard's Tower made it possible for me to enchant and create new spells before I had been inducted into the Mage's Guild, and the garden is worth the price itself.

The Horse Armor does indeed give your horsie more hit points. I just use Convalescence on my chestnut after every battle on the road. The Improve Your Horse quest really does improve that horse.

I have't bought the pirate ship mod, since I'm not all that stealth-based this time through the game. Next time, maybe.

Look, for all the great modmakers out there, it ramains that Bethesda knows the Elder Scrolls Construction Set as well as anybody could. Nobody's making you buy mods.

Did you see that Bethesda is making a "Fallout III" based on the OB engine?

Its probably to late to get into this debate, but all of you suggest that they make this content cheaper still or even free when that is just not plausible. It takes the developer's people time to create this content, even the horse armor took plenty of time I'm sure, and most people who work don't work for free. So the money to pay them has to come from somewhere. If you don't want to pay that much (cheapskates) then dont it's that simple, you dont need to complain about the price in order to not buy it. For the record though I've never played Oblivion and hated Morrowind...so yeah...

I cannot even begin to explain or understand why I feel so driven to get into this.

I'm sure I'm in some sort of strange minority here, but I feel like I got the deal of a lifetime on Oblivion. It's like all-you-can eat amazing steak or something. Really, really, fantastic, and not that expensive. I feel guilty for playing the game so much and only paying $70 for it. I do enjoy the expansions, with the exception of the Horse Armor (slightly unrelated--has anyone found the "Horse Armor Plans" in the game? I got them and it says to take them to Chestnut Handy stables, but I can't do anything with them and can't remove them from inventory because they're a quest item). I am happy to give them as much money as it takes (in $2-3 increments) to make sure that great games like this keep coming out. You get great food, you tip your waiter. You get a great game, cut the devs some slack. And, as has been said many times in this thread, if you don't want to, you don't have to, and there's nothing wrong with that. Do what you like, but don't get angry about it. I'm not mad at Wal-Mart of Best Buy for selling stuff I want but am not willing to pay for. Goodnight.

Um if you use the proper Sigil Stones and the right weapons you can make one hit kill weapons on your own. Like my sister weapons Thor's Kiss and Odin's Wrath. The first is an Iron War Hammer that has the Dispell Enchantment Sigil bonded to it the second is a silver long sword with the Lightening Sigil bonded to it. Oh hell yes Odin's Wrath F**ks up undead in a major way by being both silver and magical. While Thor's Kiss does all the damage of an Iron War Hammer plus it dismisses all magical effects from items, weapons and enchantments the person hit by it has in there possesion for as long as 30 seconds. What do call a wizard hit by Thor's Kiss? A dead f**king wizard thats what.

Lol loz. They could have developed it for the PC for the same price (AND BEFORE THE XBOX360 CAME OUT), then PORTED IT TO THE XBOX360. The "steep next gen developing cost" aren't that steep. Developers and publishers are just using the excuse so they can charge gamers more.

Well thank you for your expert opinion, its nice to get the scoop from a game developer. Oh, your not a game developer you say? So where do you get this info from? This is a fair price considering the hefty Next Gen prices and dev costs for "next gen" quality. Think about it; they don't have to make Additional Content but they make them for their fans and supporters of their game. With the STEEP next gen costs. you HAVE to sell a LOT of copies to turn a profit. I mean if it was the last gen, sure; you can argue the prices are way to0 high. The Math above about 200 hours of gameplay @ 70 or 60 dollars is misleading. Add the software required to make the models of the game; the costs of the workers and their hourly wages and what not and you will see WE are getting the better end of the bargain. The most overly priced content was Horse Armor Download and it is a fair arguement that is was overpriced but the other content is reasonably fair considering we don't know how long it took AND COST to make it. The content is fan service people, not content they dibliberately removed from the game and charge us for it. (Even though the Horse Armor feels ironically like that).
And Take Two cares for the fans giving us this new content. Tell me what other game has more in-game content in a short period like Oblivion?
And people are outraged they have to pay for this content; it is a considerable arguement... but with next gen steep prices only the blockbuster publishers and developers could afford that like EA; Take Two DEF. Can't after how much money they lost and the 75 billion dollars they COULD have loss because of the GTA hot coffee scandal....

"FUN FACT: Not having enough servers doesn't mean you aren't making a killer profit, it just means you don't want to shell out the additional money required to get more. WoW is making Blizzard a ton of money, there's no denying that. Just look at their monthly earnings. Blizzard is a great company that provides excellent consumer relations, but this doesn't mean Bethesda isn't either."

Thats completely off topic. What does it matter what they earn? Did I say Blizzard didnt make a fortune? No I didnt. I said that they arent changing the monthly prices regardless of what it is they need to do to fix the game, and regardless of the amount of users (which is now a ridiculous 6 mil). But yet their fixing in game bugs and NOT telling its consumers; "Start over or too bad" like ive been getting so many times ive caled Bethesda over multiple game glitches. Yet Bethesda is continually pumping out add-ons that cost far more than they should (and yes fine, you dont have to purchase them) instead of working on PATCHING a game with an insane amount of bugs just because theyve gotten ridiculously greedy. And if you ARE a PC user, it makes even less sense why youd even SUPPORT such an add-on as the mod community released this stuff a couple months back already for free.

"You say I managed to get myself a copy that doesn't have serious problems. So are you saying that some copies of the game come designed with different source code than others? If so, the only person who's out of the information loop here is you, pal. If the game isn't working right, it's a hardware issue (a problem that needs to be addressed in some cases, but you can only do so much with QA). If the game doesn't run because you got a copy with serious problems, then it's a problem with your disc and hopefully you'll get another one (companies often send new ones, I don't know what Bethesda's policy is, but I don't really care right now, either). If there's an issue with a quest or the code causing gameplay problems, then use the console, CS, etc. and IT CAN BE FIXED. All it takes is not being a dolt."

You call that consumer friendly? If you cant fix the problem yourself your a dolt? How many gamers do you think know enough about comps to fix the problems themselves? Hell id venture out to guess a good deal dont even know what the term source code is. Thats like knowlingly selling someone a bad car and telling them when they come back to get it fixed that they should be able to fix it themselves or their just stupid. How many people do you know own a car and dont know anything about it except how to drive it? Alot. And yes, I fully understand it has to do with the hardware. But thats the problem. Bethesda shouldve stamped out this problem in pre production. And if they missed something, they shouldve gotten to fixing it fast, not like what theyve been doing. And theirs plenty of unfixable problems on the PC version as well. Scan through the forum links I gave you and youll find a decent few (i.e. problems with actual source code that actually require patching).

And worse yet, the one patch they DO release is aimed at fixing a problem that ISNT hampering gamers but is actually giving them a little entertainment. And in the end it didnt even fix that."

"And yet Blizzard has been adding an enormous amount of content since a month after its release, and every content adding patch also fixes a myriad of bugs found within the game. Considering their dealing with 6 million + users, and that even now their lacking enough servers to keep many users in Europe from even logging on, its amazing that their not passing the costs over to the consumer and charging more than 13 bucks a month to pay for the enormous server costs. From the sound of it, I dont think you understand where money goes to in the gaming industry at all."

The point is people keep raising trivial objections about a "pay as you go system" wherein Bethesda plan to make a profit off of their work instead of simply:

    A) handing it out for free

    or

    B) charging only what is necessary to cover their costs

When you take 200 hours of your life trying to power lvl a character in an rpg just to have it stop short because of a 'unfixable" glitch (these jerks could fix it in a seconds notice too if they concentrated on stamping out the bugs and not on charging you for add-ons) in the game, you get pissed.
