Adriano signs up for Pro Evo 6

Brazil's prolific striker to be the face of Konami's new football game later this year.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that Adriano Leite Ribeiro, one of the world's best strikers, will be the face of football game Pro Evolution Soccer 6. The Brazil and Inter Milan forward will lend his likeness as the main European representative of the game, with additional localised talent to be announced in the next few weeks.

Last year's title, Pro Evolution Soccer 5, featured Chelsea defender John Terry and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry on the UK version's box, but Adriano will arguably have a greater appeal across Europe as a whole. The player stated that he was looking forward to working on what he called "the most realistic football game around," although it's unlikely that his involvement in the game will extend beyond some press appearances and the use of his likeness.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 will be available for the PlayStation 2, PSP, and the PC, as well as for two new formats this year: the Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. As with previous releases in the series, there will be a mixture of licensed and unlicensed teams included, although new additions to the officially re-created international teams are Spain, Italy, Sweden, Argentina, and the Netherlands. The game will ship across Europe in the fourth quarter of 2006, and will hit the US in January 2007.

Played an import if the japanese version (winning eleven 10). BIG improvement on pro evo 5, seems konami actually listened. can't wait for this.

And who cares if people call it football or soccer? you hear Pele calling it "soccer" all the time in interviews. you wouldn't argue with him would you?

I wish they would call it pro evo football 6 and drop the soccer part. Soccer is a word that had to be made up so the really inteligent americans would not get confused. Maybe the rest of the world should make up a word to call american football, I suggest poofball.

Nice! I'm craving for a football game after playing loads of FIFA demos, and maybe Pro Evo/Winning Eleven will be my pick.
Look at the featured game. It's called Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. It's one of those games that has several names according to where you are. Like football. It's soccer in the U.S., but football in most european countries.

I guess Konami is telling me that I need to upgrade to a XBox 360. Not releasing a XBox version sucks since that is the only console that I own for now. On the other hand, I will be getting it for the Nintendo DS Lite. I want this game so bad that I actually considered importing the Japanese version, but decided to wait until it's January or February release date since I already have both FIFAs for my DS, which should suffice until it actually releases in the US.
And to all you haters out there, FIFA 06 and 2006 FIFA World Cup are excellent football games. If some of you guys actually sit down and played those games you would see that it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish those games from Winning Eleven in terms of gameplay, especially since WE9 done mucked up all that I loved about WE8. Sorry people, but I find myself playing more FIFA than WE9 because I just never got used to the "improved" gameplay in WE9. That will not deter me from getting WE: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 though, as that is one of my favorite franchises on the consoles. So y'all should just stop hating and get both FIFA and Winning Eleven. After all, you can never have enough football. Can you?

What happened to the release date for PS3? Is that being held for surprise as a launch title, or is in not coming out till next year, after january transfers for example. I know its in development but there hasn't been many if not any press releases about it concerning the PS3. I'm confused. If you can get any more news on this for me that would be great.
