Halo 3 doc coming

Bungie.net confirms short film focusing on the E3 2006 trailer of its anticipated shooter; doc will feature new "angles" on trailer.

When a company has a property as hot as the Halo franchise at its disposal, it would do well to keep major details under wraps until just the right time. It's also important that little nuggets of info get planted into the minds of its fans to keep them happy and keep the message boards lit up with "Master Chief r00lz" posts.

After denying for quite some time that it was heading back into the Halo-verse, Bungie revealed--through a trailer shown at Microsoft's pre-E3 press conference--that it is working on Halo 3. Though the trailer was enough to send Halo fans into orbit, the news that it was made entirely from the in-game engine blasted them to another dimension.

Those eager to learn anything and everything about the trailer will get the chance soon. On Bungie.net, "content monkey" Frankie O'Conner reveals that a short documentary about the trailer's making is in the works. The film will concentrate on what went into making the teaser, as well as those involved in creating it. It's unlikely that new footage will be included, but Frankie promises that fans will get a look at the trailer from new "angles." It is currently unclear how or when the documentary will be released.

GameSpot got a look at some those angles behind closed doors with Bungie reps at E3, documented in a close-up look at the trailer. Halo 3 is currently scheduled to be released on the Xbox 360 sometime in 2007.

    It will come out in Mar 2007. A couple of months before the movie comes out.

    I have to think most of the surprises are over with, since Halo 3 is the final installment in the trilogy. More surprising will be if they keep dual wielding, or what they do to change it, and what other weapon changes there are.

    Why are there playstation fans flaming about this trailer? It's Halo3...an xbox 360 game...does the article even mention playstation or sony? NO! Are you just here so you can kid yourself to hating the xbox 360 so that you'll only buy the ps3? There is no point complaining about another console to make yourself feel happier and that you've made a better descision, it's pure blindess and stupidity. I own a x360 but i don't tell myself that the ps3 is **** because i have a 360, it looks good but it just hasn't got enough games that I like because I have lost interest in the majority of playstation's series like mgs for example but i don't think that they are bad.

    GT never appealed to me, i much prefered pgr3 because of live and the kudos etc. MGS is good but each game is as cliche' as the other, it's the same damn story over and over again and it gets repetitive too you know.
    As far as Halo goes well it's not just plain shooting, there are the vehicles too which in alot of games don't work as well as they do in halo. In each game bungie try to do something different like in halo 2 it was much more up close and personal since the melee hits were better especially with the plasma sword and you could also dual weild. In halo 3 of course they are going to add something different to spice up the gameplay but even if they didn't what about mgs4, the gameplay in those games never changed either and i hardly doubt that it will in mgs4.

    So just because ps3's big hit is the last of the series doesn't mean you can just go and slag about xbox's big hit, there are plenty more original titles coming out for the xbox that are NEW not a series that has gathered up loyal gamers over the years like FF, GT and MGS.

    Bahumat, your insane and clearly the minority in your belief that Halo has crap gameplay. Play Halo CE and you'll can tell the difference. I don't know if your looking for complex gameplay, but I know you won't find it in Halo. That's a good thing by-the-way. Complexity is not always required. You probably bought one of those mech-controllers that cost 200$ and then said, "this is gameplay". "I have to switch like ten switches then push this button five times and then the mech will start". Halo has some of the best gameplay mechanics ever devised period.

    and for all who say that this game will go far in gameplay, most likely, it will just have little tweaks, not revolutionized gameplay. i know thats alot to ask for from any company, but it would be nice to see a damn change in it. i mean, i didnt feel any different when playing halo 1 and halo 2, except for the STUPID MINOR CHANGES

    Halo might not have all that much going for it gameplay-wise when you analyze it bit by bit, but when you do get around to play it, you get that larger-than-life feeling.

    If it's from the awesome music score, the amazing story or even the Master Chief, I don't know. All I know is I can't wait for more halo goodness.

    and dont say it isnt possible, because ive heard similar things from alot of other people like ex. command and conquer will never be on N64, and square inix would never put a game on a microsoft console. and that console gaming would never hold a candle to pc gaming. well seems all this has already happened.

    one of my main things to hope for is i hope they make it a little more tactical, i dont mean squad based i mean like, for instance somewhere on the suit is a shield mechanizm, if you can hit that shields down time for a one hit kill. and more weapons, more custimization options for multiplayer, wrether it be game options, or character custimizations. more of that epic soundtrack, just add a little more guitar to it please and why not maybe a map editor. or a weapon editor. or something like all that,

    actually halo 2 was released nov. 9th, believe me i pre-ordered and i was there.... and this is the most hyped game that is comming out, but it will also be the one that sells the most when it comes down to it, and it will have awesome gameplay, good story, good mood, great un prescidented visuals, and the online with live, will blow just about anything sony or nintendo has out of the water. oh and by the way, for an over hyped game, halo2 holds the single largest day in ENTERTAINMENT including sports, and all other competitions, dont believe check it sold 200 mil its first weekend., so with all the money MS and bungie made off of that one, they can make it how they want to now. not to mention microsoft, more so than the other companys listens to the feedback of the gamer, so were gonna see improvements from the user reiviews as well.

    i think we are going to see some gameplay in next E3... it will be really soon to see something this year.. and maybe it will be released november 07 like h1 and h2 did

    For crying out loud, they just released this trailer. It hasn't even been out for a month yet. The game has a ways to go yet, and wouldn't you rather wait to see the game more in it's finished form before you see anything?

    Be grateful if you see anything by TGS 06.

    Can't wait for Halo 3. Really looking forward to this game. Will probably check out the behind the scenes trailer movie just because I'm fascinated by that type of thing.

    hmmmm i like halo, but comon, halo 2's ending was to say the least s***. They better have no crappy endings of their next game. Also, a doc. on halo 3 trailer... i don't think i need to say anything else lol

    I still suppose no one has even noticed the old assult rifle among many other interesting tidbits. I can't shout about it any louder than I have since the teaser was released at E3.

    gt4freak1985 you sound like one of those hardcore Medal Gear fans. A game that is past it's prime and barely sales anymore. Halo set the standard for all shooter games that are out now on the market. Every shooter game that comes out, they make it their goal to beat Halo and to steal fans from the game. They always seem to fail. Halo 2 is the most played game online still and it is more than a year old. You can go online at anytime of the day and find more than 300,000 people playing Halo 2. That is just in the United States never mind world wide. You will never here of people standing in line 5 days before the release date for Medal Gear. Don't HATE!

    "Oh great, now the crappy trailer that told us absolutely nothing will be broken down and analyzed for the Halo geeks to devour. Give me some gameplay footage please."

    the trailor showed the covenant opening up the ark, so the trailer had alot of importance. it showed that the covenant were on the brink of controlling the power of all the halos (which clearly isnt good..).

    i know i'll watch whatever they put out..cuz its about halo. lol. and bungie knows u will too.

    "so. instead of working on the game they are just like what making more movies? that doesnt help too much..."

    it takes maybe 5 people to do a trailer..and they have 100+ people working on the game.
