RE4 and Nintendogs win design awards

Yellow Pencils go to the horror action game and portable pet sim.

The latest installment in Capcom's cult classic zombie series, Resident Evil 4, and Nintendo's popular pet puppy game, Nintendogs, have both been awarded a prestigious "Yellow Pencil" design award at an event in the UK.

The D&AD Awards, which recognise creative excellence in areas of design and advertising, added a new gaming category this year, and the Yellow Pencil roughly corresponds to a silver award, although no Black Pencils (gold awards) were given to video games at the ceremony this year.

Two other titles were nominated in the category: Activision's World War II shooter Call of Duty 2 and Sony's action game God of War.

D&AD is a UK-based charity whose remit is to champion excellence in creativity globally. It was founded in 1962 and runs award schemes and education programmes and works with businesses to ensure that creativity is given a high priority. You can see a full list of winners here.

    RE4 just got because it was well known, there are more PC games that have alot more depth and creative story telling to it.

    N64nut can go to hell. You're clearly acting arrogant and hardcore for no reason, all this "I was there before the movies" crap. Resi 4 is a great game, its universally agreed upon.

    Whilst your opinion would be good, you laced it with that rubbish about those who only knew "RE through the movies". Wow, aren't you right?

    People who watched the movies shouldn't be allowed to play the game! Just what Capcom always wanted! Thanks for all that.

    Congrats to Capcom, for showing us what it is to play videogames. Loved the fight with Krauser. Fought him on Christmas Eve, one of the most exciting game moments ever.

    That's great. RE4 probably didn't need to have something kickstart its sales but oh well. I would have also liked to see GoW get something but anyway.

    to those who said Niintendogs is crappy, that game alone makes the Playstation Portable more like Dreamcast Portable.

    hmm GOD of WAR....for what type of award..sounds like sony is paying for their crap to make the news aswell,of course the game was cool,but to me it seemed like a very good action adventure game,noting new,and really nthing to cheer about,ok well the sex mingame was cool,if they considered it for an award for that,then wheres the GTA:sa hot coffe award

    Glad they had the good sense/taste not to give any more awards to GoW, which already doesn't deserve half its praise.

    Nintendogs and Resident Evil 4 are both great games, they deserve this award and many more.

    Both games deserved it. They could be released today and still be considered spectacular. Finally some recognition for RE4.
