Capcom and Cosmic Infinity--which will become a subsidiary of Capcom USA--did not release financial details of the agreement, but Cosmic Infinity will continue to operate out of its current location in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
The Mobile and Interactive Media Division of Capcom Entertainment emphasized the importance of acquiring the developer of Millionaire, which is already a popular title, to support its growing presence in the mobile game market.
"Cosmic Infinity has a strong track record, outstanding talent and several notable consumer brands," said Midori Yuasa, general manager and senior vice president of Capcom's Mobile and Interactive Media Division. "With their assistance, we intend to make Capcom Entertainment, Mobile and Interactive Media a leader in the emerging wireless gaming market."
The developer will also create new games based on classic Capcom franchise--though no specific games have been announced.
Capcom's mobile gaming division has already released several titles based on its franchises, including Ghosts 'n' Goblins and Mega Man, while wireless games based on Resident Evil, Super Puzzle Fighter, and Nintendo DS hit Phoenix Wright are all in development.
