Ubisoft getting Lost in 2007

French publisher bringing hit ABC TV series to PCs, consoles, and portables in 2007.

Last month, the ABC television network announced it was making an interactive game based on its hit series Lost. Though partially Web-based, the Lost Experience is more of an alternate-reality game than a proper video game. Since it started several weeks ago, it has prompted viewers to visit Web sites via fake television ads for the Hanso Foundation, the mysterious organization staging sinister experiments on the tropical island Lost is set on.

Today, Ubisoft has announced it is making a proper Lost game. The French publisher's Montreal studio is developing the project, which is set to arrive on PCs, consoles, and handhelds next year. It may also be noteworthy that Ubisoft Montreal also develops the Far Cry Instincts series, which also features a mysterious organization staging sinister experiments on a tropical island. (The original Far Cry was developed by German studio CryTek.)

The choice of Ubisoft as the Lost game's publisher also surprised many. That's because ABC is owned by Disney, which has been building up its own games unit, Buena Vista Games. Besides showing off a next-generation Turok sequel at E3 this month, BVG is developing a Sims-like game based on another top-rated ABC show, Desperate Housewives.

    This could be so good the main question is waht genre of game will it be obviously you cant help thinking of guns but if you really think about it guns have not been a major part of the story line up until the climax of series 2. Another point is that alot of people keep going on about what material could you have from lost that would actually be worth turning into a game. Well i have two words for you ''FLASH BACKS''.

    Wow. this'll be awesome, i love the show. but at the same time, i just don't know about this. When your low on ammo and weapons, you can head straight back to the hatch and equip, or just kill a couple of others for some ammo. A lot of encounters with the monster, you can either have a choice. Run, hide or die. lol. kidding, well its either that going to be targeted by the monster more then once though areas or you get a quick cut death scene of you been dragged on the ground by its hook and killed. ouch. You can ally with Danielle and Desmond. Locke should be the one to be the tutorial guru. Since, lets say he isn't a playable character, but say, a unlockable one. I'll might as well trash the hatch when its releases, that'll make Desmond quite mad as hell. :p hopes for a lot of object physics. There could be a quick action game where you must escape the monster and once your grabbed, you can button mash to escape quickly. that'll be high tensed before you get pulled under or into a tree dead.

    I simply can't wait for this Lost game; encounters with the others; the polar bears; the huge black cloud; possible sharks once you build the raft; interact with the cast of Lost, much like Knights Of The Old Republic and find out about their past. There's lots of possibilities for this game and i'm ver eager to see how they all play out.

    Hmm. Lost is an awesome TV show, but I don't know if it would work as a video game. I mean, other than hike-through-the-jungle-beating-the-crap-out-of-Others missions, I really don't see what you could do with this.

    Hey, I have an Idea!!!!! Mabe we could somehow have the plane full of the LOST Game copies crash on some mystical island and they could live the lives of the LOST characters and mabe than they would think a second time about having others play a game that involves being screwed around with by un-natural causes and be comparable to rats in a science lab.

    They were smart going with Ubisoft. They make incredible games, Prince of Persia series just to name one...or a few. I love the show and think with it interacting with the internet in some way will be a great concept. PUSH THE BUTTON!!!!!!!!!

    What a stupid idea!!! Cant they see that making games based on shoes and movies are always horrible games!!! Here is an example:When they made the fear factor game it was soooo bad that the show get lower ratings!!! And i know alot of fans of the show lost that will hate to see this show die cuase of stupid gaming ideas!!!

    I just want to play the Desperate Housewives game! Thats my second favorite show, even though I haven't been watching it for the last 5 episodes, including the season finale.....

    Although licensed games are seldom any good, I have faith that the talented team at Ubi Soft will be able to pull this one off. Drawing from the intriguing source material from the show, Ubi Soft should have no trouble crafting an incredible game experience (hopefully something along the lines of jungle survival à la Far Cry). I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

    Any idea has the potential to be a great game, though most of the times the vision of a such a great game is lost due to the goofballs at every development company that wants to get the game out as quick as possible and cut so many corners that the game innevitably is tossed in the trash, while said developers dont care because they make money on selling shipments to retailers, not selling individual games. Hopefully, JJ Abrams and the other creators on lost will have a large hand in the development with this game, if so, any physical errors may be underscored by the epic storytelling of the combined mines behind the Lost television series.

    I was just thinking about whether they could make a Lost game the other day! And I decided that it would probably be really stupid. Yeah it will probably be fun to run around as Jack, Locke, Etc for a little while, but I can't imagine this being anything above a 7.5 on GS.

    well they could make the game simalar to anarchy online like you crash in a plane at a part of the island do a training mission and then get into the real world and you could go others or losties
    something like that like a mmorpg or something
