UK DS Lite announcement due on Monday?

UK trade magazine MCV expects price and release date to be confirmed on Monday, May 22.

Nintendo will announce the UK date and pricing of its DS Lite console on Monday, according to trade publication MCV. The magazine believes that the company will finally confirm the console's UK launch plans, following a similar announcement in America recently.

The console has been on sale in Japan since March 2006, proving to be incredibly successful and selling out immediately upon launch. The DS Lite is set to be launched in North America on June 11 for $129.99 (approx. £69) and in Australia on June 1 for AU$199.95 (approx. £80).

The DS Lite is 42 percent smaller in volume and 21 percent lighter than the original DS console. New features for the system include four different brightness settings, a longer and thicker stylus, and a relocation of the Power and Start/Select buttons.

    I'd love to get a DS Lite to get into a lot of the portable Nintendo gaming goodness that I've been missing out on so far. But I'm already diluted on my other gaming platforms...I barely have the money/time to buy/play games on the systems I already have!

    if the price is correct, i just might get me one of those,.. i like my ds, but a smaller lighter version would put less stress on my hand.. i hope they have the dark blue one on launch day

    The DS can play gba games just fine as long it isn't the rumble or the tilt ones or the ones with the light sensor. You also cannot do multiplayer with them.

    There are 100 DS games coming out this year.

    Also there is a Cooking Mama sequel coming to the Wii along with two other games developed by Taito.

    i have a DS and have had since UK launch but i'm still chomping at the bit to get a DS lite! the brightness is going to really help this summer and all the ds games look even better due to the radioactive screen lol

    @Commander: yes but i heard that it cant play GameBoy games tho .
    I've been wanting a DS for 2 months now, the only reason i havent purchased one yet is because the DS-lite. And now the wait is almost over

    Nice for the UK Nice for the US to be getting it soon.

    I just will pass no need to spend 150 dollars on a system I own already that being the DS.

    I much would prefer to spend the 150 on games then a system that works fine.Just wish they would know that we own it already and would like more games.
