E3 06: Virtual Gaming Console for laptops

Latest Toshiba machines will feature Virtual Gaming Console application and an online casual game portal.

LOS ANGELES--Online games publisher WildTangent has announced that selected Toshiba Satellite notebook computers will feature a Virtual Gaming Console application. The machines will come preinstalled with the software, five casual games, and access to more than 250 casual and family games.

The software is designed to transfer games over the Internet using WildTangent's compression software and will let you pay for games in full (at around $20 each) or use the WildCoins pay-as-you-play payment system similar to an arcade.

Some of the games available on the service include FATE, BlasterBall 2: Revolution, and Bejeweled 2. The service will begin shipping with Toshiba's notebook computers soon.

Awesome, people can buy a computer pre-loaded with spyware now.

I'll stick to giving my money to companies who don't suck.

Why is Toshiba putting spyware preinstalled on their computers? I think thats the bigger question.

oh by the way im being VERY sarcastic. I hate games like bejeweled. And you couldnt sell me a game like that for 10cents. Its available for FREE on tons of websites........who are these people kidding? Its like that commercial for gametap or whatever......they show crappy out-dated games that no real gamer will want to play.

i dont think i've ever seen a "casual" gamer. either you play games or you dont, a game of bejeweled every week does not count.

WildTangent is definitely spyware. I guess these games would appeal to casual gamers though which coincidentally, usually are the same folks that don't know WildTangent is spyware. :p

wow wild tangent software has been impossible to get off my computer and they are spyware f***s. i hope the ppl at wild tangent get testicular cancer and die real slow. oh and by the way virtual consoles are already available, there called emulators! there free and you can uninstall them unlike wild tangent bs.

I stopped using WildTangent applications after they refused to be removed from my old PC without taking a hammer to it.

WildTangent software is, in my opinion, WELL DODGY.

Looks like my next laptop won't be a Toshiba.

Umm, WildTangent is for all intents and purposes spyware. This is not gaming news. This is "the next thing that you won't be able to uninstall from your computer without messing with the registry" news.

Is it "virtual gaming" because it's "virtually like gaming"?
