E3 06: Hell's Highway takes detour to 2007

Marching orders for next edition of Ubisoft's squad-based WWII shooter Brothers in Arms pushed back to early next year.

LOS ANGELES--Though much excitement and jubilation emerges from the Electronic Entertainment Expo each year, not all news to come out of the show is good news. Ubisoft today confirmed that Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 won't be storming shelves until the first quarter of next year. When Ubisoft originally announced the game just last month, the publisher had expected to have it ready for this holiday season.

Hell's Highway will follow the 101st Airborne Division once again as they drop behind enemy lines during the Second World War. Familiar faces from previous BIA games, including Matt Baker and Joe Harstock, will return to take on Operation Market-Garden, the war's largest airborne campaign.

Ubisoft is showing Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway at E3 this year, so check back soon for GameSpot's coverage of the game from the show floor.

"Call Of Duty 2 on veteran is a hell of a lot harder then BIA Earned In Blood on its hardest and I passed COD2 on Veteran so if you consider Brothers In Arms hard then just go play some medal of honor where you dont think about anything other then "omg wheres a health pack" or better yet play a true hard game and try COD 2 just my opinion "

You must have never played Brothers in Arms on its hardest setting. Call of Duty 2 on veteran was easy. All it was was a little bit of trial and error. The only hard part in the whole game of COD2 on veteran was the silo. Thats it. I beat COD 2 on veteran in less than a week. COD 2 is easy. BiA EiB is tough.

Randy Pitchford showed off a fantastic playable demo of BiA:HH (repeat: playable, running, in Unreal 3, OMG) at last week's E3 while COD and MoH were complete no-shows. And the latter two are still slated to come out this year. Please.

I'm actually kinda glad Gearbox is going to put some more time into their work. Hell's Highway is shaping up to be better than COD3 or MoH: Airborne already, and some more time will just widen the gap.

It's always difficult to compare apples and pears (for example), event though they are both fruits, they are not comparable. Same goes here (IMO that is) with COD1-UO-2... and BIA, EIB or possibly H'sH. They are both situated in the WW2 area, that's for sure, but taht's all there is to when it comes to comparison (still IMO, as stated earlier)

This game is looking great - and I'm sure Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will have plenty to do from its original rumoured date to the new one.

to xboxmatt.... the games were good because they were hard.... and made you think. i cant wait until this game comes out, its going to be fantastic, and the standard for all WWII games, if not all tactical shooters to be measured against.

Is it me or does Ubisoft do this with every single game? They announe it for a set time and then a couple weeks later, they delay them.
