E3 06: 2K Sports heads back to rink, courts

With no messy labor negotiations, tricky salary-cap issues, or other player-versus-owner arguments, sports on the digital front, unlike their professional real-world counterparts, can continue on unabated barring an exclusive license. It should come to no one's surprise, then, that 2K Sports is bringing back its fall lineup for another round of hoops and hockey.

The sports arm of Take-Two Interactive today released the first screenshots for NHL 2K7, NBA 2K7, and College Hoops 2K7. No details on any of the games have been released, but more information should be available next week at E3.

2K has not announced which platforms the games are headed for, but it should be noted that all three games are available in their 2K6 incarnations for the Xbox 360, with NBA 2K6 and NHL 2K6 ready at launch.

    all i care about it next gen hockey on ps3, screw the crapbox 360 and forget about the crappy now nba aka hiphopped b-ball crap it is now. hockey is for real men you panzies!

    I think alot of the 2k sports games are better than most of EA sports games.

    All looks like crap ! Looks just like the dreamcast version from 2k, Still. And the animation will prob be stiff as always.

    Instead of rushing out product every year. Why not release a game every other year and a 5$ download or somthing like that the next with roster update and someother tweaks ?

    if you know anything about 2k is that they release screenshots with very little upgrades around e3

    we will have to wait a little longer to see the real 2k7

    They look pretty tight. Details are nicely done compared to 2K6. Didn't think it could get better but man do they impress me.

    I was diasappointed with the 2K6 version of NHL. If they had kept it like 2K5, it would have been outstanding. But they didn't.

    2k seems to be left behind in the next gen world, they need to step it up a notch cause this looks loke crap, same as 2k6 editions. I thought the goal was improvement from a year to year basisengine as you used on

    The bugs will be gone next year.360 and PS3 are a WHOLE new level of programming for consoles,so we should not be surprised.My MLB 2k6 works fine anyways,sorry to those of you who got a bad copy.

    The grfx still look like the current gen versions with slightly improved player models. The screen shots look exactly the same as last years versions for the 360, maybe even worst.

    They need to sort out the focusing, it's totally unrealistic and ott like in NBA 2k6. In image 3 the guy is standing like one foot behind the two guys at the front of the shot, but the soft focus makes him look like he's miles away. Ridiculous.

    NBA 2k7 doesn't have it quite as bad but it's still wrong. At least this time the NBA doesn't look like the Xbox 1 game but with sweat like in NBA 2k6.

    NHL 2K7 doesn't look that great graphically.
    If the gameplay is there, though, I'll stick pick it up.

    NHL 2k5 was the last great hockey game. EA's product has gotten better, however.

    Yeah the NHL looks like crap for the next gen. And why is it the thing to do for next gen games is to just blur everything? Bleh. The only game on the Xbox 360 so far that impressed me was Fight Night Round 3.

    This is not next gen. Wow they didn't improve anything, they're still porting current gen, no such thing as next gen sports games when it comes to 2K, hell even EA. Next gen is for other games besides sports, it's obvious now, b/c these games suck. It's official now that they're bringing out the same games but just fixing the bugs and charging $60.

    2K sports.....getting lazy maybe? Many peeps preferred their football series because EA seemed to just recycle Madden/NCAA every year. Now 2K sports is doing the exact same thing it seems. Maybe the finished products will be better and bug free. We can only hope.

    I've been with EA for my NHL games from 1994 and I aim to stay that way. No body has even come close to beating EA, and for one simple reason. EA's NHL games are FUN! Plus they always have great graphics, music and options. When I got my first 2K NHL games I played it for like 10 mins and hated it. The game play was not fun at all. Here's hoping EA Sports releases an NHL for PSP. Gretzky NHL sucks.

    I wonder where the PS3 one is.

    I also wonder how close they are to finishing up the game would love to see Steve Yzerman in the game still on the Red Wings even if he does retire.

    I was hoping that NHL2k7 would at least look a little different. I could understand the similar gfx engine for the 2k6 edition but I thought they would unveiling a true next gen experience for this year. Maybe 2k8.........or 2k9
