E3 06: Test Drive Unlimited screeches onto PS2, PSP

Atari confirms development of game for Sony's consoles in addition to PC and Xbox 360.

Atari's Test Drive Unlimited will be arriving on Sony's PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in autumn 2006. The game is currently in development at the company's Melbourne House studio, and Atari promises that the PSP version will be one of the first genuinely online games for the console.

Test Drive Unlimited is an open-road driving game set on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The same 70 luxury supercars, solo challenges, and player-created races will make it onto Sony's consoles from the Xbox 360.

The game is split into single-player and multiplayer components. The solo mode lets you complete challenges to win high-performance vehicles and larger garages to put them in. The game also has a massive online component and has been pitched as the first massively multiplayer online racing game. Players from around the world can create a challenge for other drivers, place bets on race outcomes, and join clans.

The game will be released for the Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation2, and PlayStation Portable in the autumn.

    yea y not an xbox version i mean y should we who dont own ps2 or theother conlosles miss out considering it was the xboxes bigger brother the 360 that it was on first shuldnt the little bro get a turn intstead man i like this game wen i tried it but to buy another console to play it is stupid

    WOW, THIS GAME IS SOUNDING VERY GOOD, ESPECIALLY FOR THE PSP, I MEAN YOU GET ALL THE REGALOR FEATURES THAT SOUND GREAT ON A HANDHELD, AND PLAY ONLINE COMPETEING AGAINST PEOPLE, BETTING ON RACES, THIS GAME SOUNDS INCREDIBLE, BUT IF I WAS YOU PEOPLE I WOULD SAVE ANY MONEY FOR IT JUST YET, FIRST THEY NEED TO SHOW SOME OF THE GRAPHICS FOR IT AND SHOW HOW THE GAME LOOKS IN ACTION, BUT I THINK THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE A HIT

    pedjan there only helping out, by also covering for current gen. They will not make the 360 version last gen, the PSP and PS2 are sweet peices of kit.

    So why should Sony who have more experince then MS in the console side of things, miss out on TDU. Remember you use to play on the old gen of consoles.

    Lets see what the PSP version would be like...imagine competing with other people from else while being on the move...well,as long where internet hotspots are available

    I have a feeling that it might come out on both the PS2 and PS3 at least I hope so.

    I know if it comes only on the PS2 I will pass.
