E3 06: Vivendi confirms F.E.A.R. for 360
PC shooter headed to Microsoft's next-gen console this fall; Day 1 Studios (MechAssault) on as developers.
Monolith Productions' F.E.A.R. for the PC was regarded as one of 2005's most intense shooters, regardless of platform. However, those without the PC firepower to run the graphics-intensive game feared the worst--that they wouldn't be able to play it at all.
Relief came when not one, but two rumors hit the Internet about F.E.A.R. heading to the Xbox 360. Gamers murmured about the possibility of an Xbox 360 version because F.E.A.R. was built on the same technology as Monolith's Condemned: Criminal Origins--an Xbox 360 game. Fans reasoned that Condemned eventually made its way to the PC, so why couldn't the reverse happen for F.E.A.R.?
Vivendi finally let the cat out of the bag today, announcing that F.E.A.R. would terrorize Microsoft's next-generation console this fall. The game will make its public debut at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but Vivendi has not yet revealed if the game will include any extra features.
Monolith won't be working on the port of F.E.A.R. Those duties have been handed off to Chicago-based Day 1 Studios, who worked on both MechAssault and MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf.
F.E.A.R. for the Xbox 360 has not yet been priced and will likely carry the same M-for-Mature rating as its PC counterpart. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's PC review.
