E3 06: Snoopy and Pac-Man skipping Xbox?

Previously announced versions of upcoming Namco Bandai mascot titles mysteriously absent from E3 release list; publisher mum on future Xbox support.

Namco Bandai has taken the wraps off a portion of its lineup for next week's Electronics Entertainment Expo, and some of the company's previously announced titles are notably absent. In particular, the Xbox versions of the multiplatform mascot games Snoopy vs. the Red Baron and Pac-Man World Rally are mysteriously absent, while every other version of both games is still being promoted.

Namco Bandai representatives did not return requests for comment on the status of the Xbox versions of those games and whether or not the company had discontinued its support of the original Xbox console. With those two games off the publisher's release list, it has no currently announced projects in development for Microsoft's first console.

Snoopy vs. the Red Baron is still slated for release on the PlayStation 2, PSP, and PC, and Pac-Man World Rally still looks to be coming to the PS2, PSP, PC, and GameCube.

Oh no, not Snoopy and Pac-Mario Kart, not them! Geez, now if we could only get these games off the other consoles, then we would be set.

i find it humorous that a lot of people are offended by this "oh no! xbox may lose support from certain developers!" when the gamecube has been cast aside by so many companies. whenever a game is only on two of the three consoles, its always ps2 and xbox. i mean, gc has been basically abandoned by lucasarts, robbing it of some really sweet star wars games. so, please, stop complaining.

It is hard not to see this as the first in what will become a wave of companies discontinuing support for the Xbox. The Xbox is not dead, but it certainly is dying, how many stores will continue to give the hardware or software shelf space after this summer? Not many when they have 2 new consoles and the 360 for this holiday season.

And for those that thinks this means Namco is going to pull support for the 360, it is far too early to even begin to tell if that is the case. Although given the sales of the 360 in Japan I could see why some might start to think that way.

Unfortunately, this could just be the beginning of many such announcements. Primarily due to the XBox360, software sales for the XBox fell around 60% this past holiday season. I wouldn't be surprised to see some announced XBox titles shifted to 360. By no means is it fair, but it's reality.

Pac-Man would be great as a XBL marketplace download. I could care less about Pac-Man World.

They understand demographics of XBox owners. I'm still a bit curious as to why they would create on the PC. Then again the PC games do get stupid crap from publishers (i.e. Barbie) once in awhile. Plus the PC does not have to deal with splitting royalties. I don't see Namco going away from 360 in the future despite not having pacman and snoop.

Snoopy looks pretty good... and Pac-Man is who he is, so you can't go wrong with that. Too bad the XBox is not present anymore.

no worries actually, coz the xbox is a preety capable console with a lot of cool involving games , I thereforesecond those guys who say that these titles propably won't be missed.

No big loss here.

But this really bugs me. These Japanese publishers put crap on the Xbox, and then when that crap doesn't sell they use that as an excuse to stop support for the console. This is more nationallistic BS from these publishers helping out their fellow countrymen in Sony and Nintendo. Good Ridance. What have you put out lately Namco? Tekken for the thirdyth time or the tenth Soul Calibur? Release something I care about and you might see me sit up and take notice.

Out.

MadonnaProject:

"Why else would they not release on a console which was probably the most capable of great games in the last gen...."

Most capable, maybe, but it definitely didn't get many great games.

"Oh well, this is mother-hugging snoopy. he can shove peanuts up his snoop so far that nuts fly out when he coughs.... "

This, however, is funny stuff!

The point is, however, that this could, note the uncertianty here before you flame me, mean that Namco Bandai is becomming less supportive of the Xbox platforms.
