US PC Game Charts: April 9-15

Oblivion gets bumped out of the top slot by the latest Sims 2 add-on, while Battlefield 2 and The Godfather get whacked.

For all their might, the daedra have nothing on the sims. The demonic creatures from the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion were knocked off the top slot of the US PC Sales charts, according to the most recent figures released by industry trade group NPD Funworld.

According to NPD, Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff was the top PC title in the US the week of April 9, its first week on the market. The add-on adds a variety of new content to The Sims 2, including clothes for adult sims, toys for kid sims, and décor for sim houses--all for $19.99, which is $15 less than the Open for Business expansion pack, the third-best-selling game of the week.

Elder Scrolls didn't fall far, however. Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games' habit-forming role-playing game slipped just one slot to number two, four slots ahead of Blizzard Entertainment's equally addictive massively multiplayer role-playing game, World of Warcraft.

If real-time strategy is your thing, the PC top 10 had a trio of popular favorites: Age of Empires III (fourth), Star Wars: Empire at War (eighth), and The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II (10th). Those more partial to turn-based strategy had just one offering--seventh-place finisher Civilization IV, and animal-sim lovers bought enough of Zoo Tycoon 2 to have it reenter the top 10 at number nine.

The two games falling off the top 10 the week of April 9 were both from megapublisher Electronic Arts: Battlefield 2 and The Godfather.

" Is it just me, or does anyone else remember when Sims 2 was released they said that it will have no need for expansion packs because it will already have everything you will ever need already in the game? "

It's just you, they specifically said there will be seven expansion packs.
Not big on the addons, but love the expansion packs.

Sims is so overdone its ridiculous. Charging people for new clothes and maybe some pictures you can hang in your crappy sim house. Give it a rest already. I think the creator of this franchise has enough money from all these idiots that keep buying his games. Is it just me, or does anyone else remember when Sims 2 was released they said that it will have no need for expansion packs because it will already have everything you will ever need already in the game?

Lol why are you guys arguing with what people buy? PC Game Consumers have spoken, and these are the top-10 games that they bought this week, end of story. None of this, "this should be on there," or "why isn't that on there"
