E3 06: Koei announces E3 lineup

Pair of PlayStation 3 games, more Warriors installments headline publisher's lineup for this year's expo.

Koei today pulled the wraps off the games it will showcase at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, with a pair of offerings for Sony's next-gen console headlining the publisher's lineup.

The company's Omega Force development team will have a hand in both the action game Blade Storm: The Hundred Years War and the futuristic racer Fatal Inertia, which is being developed in cooperation with Koei's Toronto, Ontario, studio. While both of these games appear to be entirely new franchises, the rest of Koei's lineup is built mostly of more-familiar offerings. The full announced lineup is as follows:

PlayStation 3:
Fatal Inertia
Blade Storm: Hundred Years War

Xbox 360:
Samurai Warriors 2

PlayStation 2:
Samurai Warriors 2

PSP:
Gitaroo Man Lives!
Dynasty Warriors Vol. 2

Nintendo DS:
Dynasty Warriors DS

PC:
Uncharted Waters Online
Dynasty Warriors BB (working title)

DW is so awesome it doenst matter if it is the same thing over and over people will still buy cuz it rules!!! no one else can do it becuase no one else believes that just fighting 100000 guys is useful to a game but it is o it is

heavenly sword kinda did that but it was a timed limit

Believe it or not, Samurai Warriors has tons of tweaks to make it better than Dynasty Warriors. Don't call it Dynasty Warriors or anything. SW2 is what I want, and that DW for PC.

It will be interesting to see the change in the genre in Fatal Inertia, from the legendary sequels of dynasty and samurai warriors.
    We'll live and see.

There are two types of people in this world...rabid Koei fanboys and rabid Koei haters. Not a lot of neutral opinions on those guys.

Personally, I think Koei ran out of steam in 1994---Uncharted Waters 2 was pretty much the (pun intended) high-water mark, one of the best games of its kind of all time (wasn't until the Port Royale games came out that it was truly topped). I just haven't been able to personally muster any interest in them since then.

(oh well, that's what I have an SNES emulator for)

How do they get away with making the same beatemup over and over? SImple... cause no one else seems to be able to get it right....

Most of you need to realize that people in the East love Dynasty Warriors. (and most of Koei games for that matter) These games sell very well overseas and Koei has no problem releasing one after another after another with only a few upgrades. They have always worked this way. They are very similar to their publisher (owner???) EA. Koei has been around a very long time and knows how to keep people buying the same games year after year. This may not be your cup of tea but the people who are into these games buy them all.

Uncharted Waters Online eh? This has the potential to be amazing. Although Wii would be even cooler, I'm glad its on PC as I always felt standard console controllers bogged down the gameplay a bit in the SNES games.

    axia_777,
do you know how tired your arm would be after just 20 minutes of play?--------

Good exersize my man. Imagine how Zelda is going to be. Yah, sword games are going to take some endurance for sure with the Revolution. But bring it on, I am in good shape. Sports games may be difficult for some to play as well, like football. But a DW game would kick ass. Zelda too. And that REd Steele game, that sounds good too.....
