E3 06: Prey due date officially set
2K Games confirms the much-awaited Human Head-developed shooter will arrive on Xbox 360s and PCs July 10.
Currently, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is at the top of the Xbox 360 and PC charts. However, one of the games most likely to supplant it--and its successors--on both lists is Prey, the upcoming shooter from publisher 2K Games and Madison, Wisconsin-based developer Human Head Studios.
Prey is a revamped version of the aborted 1990s game from 3D Realms, which is assisting in the new version's development. Since it was announced last year, the game generated much interest for its graphics and cutting-edge gameplay, which will feature gravity-defying, portal-jumping combat.
Though 2K reps had hinted that it was coming in June, Prey has borne an official release date familiar to those following 3D Realms' Duke Nukem Forever: "When it's done." Today, though, that changed. 2K reps have now confirmed to GameSpot that the shooter will simultaneously ship for the PC and Xbox 360 on July 10, 2006, as some online retailers have indicated.
