E3 06: Nintendo holds contest to play the Revolution

Three winners will attend Nintendo pre-E3 press briefing; one will be the first consumer to play the console.

From now until 9 a.m. PDT on April 28, Nintendo and AOL are accepting entries in their Be the First to Play sweepstakes, three winners of which will be flown to Los Angeles for Nintendo's May 9 pre-E3 media briefing.

As lucky as that sounds, one of the three will be given the opportunity of a Nintendo fan's lifetime. All three will receive travel and lodging in LA for three days and two nights, a DS Lite, a copy of Super Mario Bros. DS, and a Nintendo T-shirt, but only the grand-prize winner will be the first consumer to play the Revolution.

So how much is it worth to play Nintendo's console early? About $1,000, according to Nintendo. In the official contest rules and regulations, Nintendo sets the approximate retail value of the grand prize at $4,000, with the second prizes running for $3,000 each.

So do we actually get to attend E3, or just the media briefing.

P.S. this might be a stupid question, if so, please forgive my ignorance.

It would be awesome to be one of the firsts to go a and test the REV before anyone. But honestly, I think that Nintendo has been going down in the console-improoving, and before having people over to play it, I think, they should have first tried a little better in looking for people to tell them what are they doing wrong.

now really what are chances of this actually be a worthwhile prize (just think what crappy games there will be to play, if any titles)

Okay I have something to say, -sighs-, sign up for an Anime World Grand Championship on myspace in the game chat room, it is anime battle with RPG style of fighting, you know T2. Now that, that is clear. The Revolution will not be played by a lucky teen winner, sorry it will be an actor or no one will be announced, it will be a white male, 5ft 8 or 9in., atleast 21 or 19, slight facial hair, with a rock band t-shirt that is black, torn blue jeans or shorts(blue jean shorts), maybe glasses with a semi deep voice, wild or semi calm black or brownish black hair. He will say something along these lines: "My first impression of the Nintendo Revolution was maybe it would be sort of a push over but it is really awesome and... the game play of the revolution sets a new style of playing and it is a whole new experience... what I like about the Nintendo Revoluton is the ability to put you in the game with the new controller and its ability to allow you to play past Nintendo games is great... the NintendoRevolution is awesome.... Hi mom, hi {insert friend(s) name} I'm having a great time and whooo go E3." Watch you all will see that I am right anf you know it he then will be secretly payed 100 or 50 dollars or he was an employee.

How about us Canadians?! I get tired of all these amazing contests that are always restricting Canadians. Has Nintendo, or even the gaming industry, forgotten that there are a lot of large gaming fans up here in Canada. And I, and many other fellow Canadians, would love to be able to have a experience like that. And we make a lot of amazing games, like Far Cry, Splinter Cell 1+3, Need for Speed Underground 1+2,Prince of Pursia, and this is just 1 company(Ubisoft Montreal). I just get sick of getting left out all the time, like if Canada didn't even exist. I would just like a little recognition, because there are a lot of us who feel the same way(and we do purchase their products!).

I have an AP Test on May 9th which will determine if I get a class out of the way for college in September or not. I'll skip the test if I win. What's more important? A test that costed me $80 and could save 100s or a Willy Wonka type experience, plus that DS and Mario game would be nice too.
