Wizard's Tower add-on available for Oblivion

Third downloadable content pack now available for Xbox 360 and PC; expansion includes a new location packed with mage-friendly tools.

Hearty Oblivion adventurers who have canvassed every nook and spelunked every cranny in all of Cyrodiil can download a little more to explore today. The official Oblivion downloads site is reporting that The Wizard's Tower downloadable content pack is now available for the Xbox 360 and PC.

The tower, actually known as Frostcrag Spire within the game, is the solitary home of a powerful mage looking to entrust it to the player's presumably capable hands. It features everything a would-be warlock could ask for: altars for summoning familiars and creating spells and enchanted items, a garden full of more than 100 ingredients for use in creating potions, teleporters to every mage's guild in the land, and a bed to sleep in when it's time to level up. For nonmages, the Spire offers "a breathtaking view of Cyrodiil from the highest point in the land."

The download is available on the PC for $1.89, or through Xbox Live Marketplace for 150 Marketplace points ($1.88). Previously released add-ons include The Orrery and the Horse Armor Pack.

I agree with you. Ps3 should get more! And I don't like the face that I had to stand outside for fall out 3 and the graphics are like crap! I was pissed about that. they made the pc and 360 version look so much better. what's up with that? they should treat ps3 like the others and give us stuff as well, not just ps and 360. I'm starting to hate bethesda. what happen to the wizards tower? I need that about now!! Stop being lazy!!! PSN: Rheath87
I clock about 156 hours of gameplay of oblivion...Hit me up

If people enjoyed the game and see that the contents that are coming out are great, why not buy it for this micro payments? It's all a bussiness and the price is just right. I pay 15 bucks a month for WoW and every few months we get new content..althought if I buy oblivion I might put my account on hold till the next expansion comes out .

LOL! This is the money I spent in Oblivion (in USD):

    Game (CE) + shipping + taxes (I live in Argentina)= 133
    Game guide + shipping= 45
    All plug-ins= 6
    =
    183 Dollars!!

And I see people complaining about 1.8 dollars! Go and buy a Coke instead.

Bethesda! You deserve it! Thanks for this game (and for Morrowind)

"Charging extra content on the PC? No one will buy this. "

Clearly you are not familar with "expansions" with PC games, they tend to sell pretty well for popular games.

This particular one sounds cool to me, for $2 why not?

so....uhhhh.....yea......when are they gonna fix the mages guild quest glitch? Cause....I can't finish it which means I'm screwed as far as the mages guild, which means no entrance to the arcane university, which means crap for spells, which means me having a hard time down the road.

Thanks Bathesda but how about you fix the game first......

Awesome! Why do I think it's awesome? Because there's no other (legal) way off expanding Oblivion. They charge us for content that could have been in the game, so what. It's 1.88 dollars here and a couple of dollars there. I'll gladly pay them. The devs don't just pop it out of a add-on maker, anyway. It takes time and money. It might just have been a month or something, but that's a month of hard work. Why do you think 12 new cars for PGR 3 costs 400 points? Because it's expensive to get permission to include cars like a 612 Scaglietti and then taking hundreds of photos and then spend weeks rendering. And that's just for one car. My point is, the fact that these are little add-ons doesn't mean a guy spend an hour in front of a computer and voila! The stuff takes time, and pay.
In response to sunrire, I'm Norwegian, and I pay more for the points. Games costs up to 90 American dollars. This is all simply because of the money system we have. Everything here is more expensive (loads of fees), but we also make a lot of money. That's why there's loads of handymen from Poland working here for a 50% discount. They come home with loads of money they can spend in a cheaper country like Poland, but they wouldn't have near as much to spend here. There's always travellers badmouthing Scandinavia, and that's because they get so little "bang for their buck"...
What I do hate though, is that these add-ons are not available here. ****! I'm waiting for a response to my complaint sent to Take2 Europe....

I'll buy it. I felt kind of ripped off by the Orrery. Well, until I realized that all my money belongs to Bethesda for creating such an awesome game. At hour 100 and still finding new and exciting things to do in the game.

I highly doubt a PS3 release of Oblivion, ever. Didn't devs just say that FFXI expansion won't make it on the PS3 because of the huge time it would take to convert (2-3 years) it to the PS3?

Imagine converting Oblivion over. Not going to happen.

and be able to play it on the PS3 this time around.

  • cybergooch

    Posted Apr 24, 2006 5:28 pm PT

Um, the reason these adds are coming out so quick is because the hard part (building the code and models) is already completed. Now they get to have fun and build new storylines and increase gameplay. As for no extra charge, look at this way, go up to your boss and tell him that you would like to work for the next 60 days WITHOUT PAY. Would you do it? Would you work for free because you just enjoy your work? NOOO, you work so that you can buy stupid patches for Oblivion like the rest of us! It's like that, only they need you to buy those tiny little add-ons so that they can make more for you to buy (see the cycle here?) Grow up and learn that the economy is not set up for freeloaders, wait, I'm assuming that you DON'T live at home. Otherwise, nevermind.

you aint the only one i hate it when rare makes us pay for maps that should have been worked on in the beginning , but i think its better then nothing at least we dont need a credit card no more to enjoy all the goodies

  • Supaflychewbaca

    Posted Apr 24, 2006 4:56 pm PT

This is a joke! on the 360 at least there aint anyways of gettin the patches we need! I really couldn't careless bout some tiny add ons that they could have put them in the full game at no extra charge, they seemed to come out soon enough (not needin any extra development time).
Plus there's probably an actual full add-on pack in the line of Tribunal and Bloodmoon on it's way.
Fixes take time i understand that its just the way there goin about it, it feels like they really couldn't careless and thats what annoys me!

Not to start a war or any thing but I hope Bethesda Softwork will put out a PS3 game of Oblivion and when it comes out it comes with all the extra downloaded stuff.I know I would love that.

I already own the one for the 360 but would love this game also on the PS3.
It would be another game I would pick up for it even if I own it now on the 360.
