ABC prepping Lost Web game

Interactive Web game will feature a parallel storyline not seen on the hit series.

ABC has announced plans to launch a massive interactive game based on its hit series Lost. The network says The Lost Experience will be the largest interactive game ever based on a TV show.

The Lost Experience will feature a storyline different from that of the show. Users will have to watch the show to collect phone numbers and other information to use in the game. The game itself will feature new characters and background on the Hanso Foundation, the mysterious group behind the Dharma Initiative.

"The game reaches back into Lost history and looks forward to future episodes," said Mike Benson, senior vice president of marketing for ABC Entertainment. "It's like a giant, worldwide, mysterious jigsaw puzzle that will come to life for all the world to solve."

ABC hopes the game appeals to "Losties" and nonfans alike. "We wanted to make it so that if you watched Lost from the beginning or if you've never watched the show before you can get into this," Benson added.

The network is teaming up with 19 other media outlets to bring the Experience to continents the world over. Each part of the world will receive different clues. The first clue will air in an episode of Lost scheduled for May 3.

Should be interesting if you actually get information on the show. Problem is they can't give away too much about what's going on with the main characters. Otherwise why would anyone need to watch the show if they can just solve the web game and have ll the information they need?

Lost is great, and any game to accompany will hopefully be too. Maybe like a Da Vinci Code type puzzle game.

The only problem with this web puzzle type games is that there are tons of forums out there that will divulge the answers with a step by step walkthrough.

Kinda takes away the fun of figuring it out for yourself and being in a small percentage of people that made it as far as yourself.

    We'll see how it goes.

Hmm...interesting idea. Not sure how this will turn out though. Most web games with clues in the TV show are fun. I'm sure Lost will turn out pretty good as well.

Do people even read the articles anymore? It isnt going to be a video game. its a webgame...Like the ones they had for the XBOX360 launch...you get clues and solve the problems and stuff to get more info on what exactly is going on in the show...i suggest people start reading the entire story not just the headline.

But isn't that what life is all about? Questions not answered till the end? Well considering im a crazy Lost fan... this is gonna lead to some of those answers the shows fans are all seeking

rhaigun, that is exactly what will happen. You'll get your wish, I can almost guarantee it. Lost is like X-Files in the sense that they hook you with questions that you want to see answered, but they have no intention of answering them, only adding more and more mystery.

I hope its just as confusing and pointless as the show. I hope I get to run around in circles with a feeling of accomplishment. Only to realise I don't know any more about Lost than before playing the game.

I am so not looking forward to another video game inspired by a movie. Oh, wait its actually based on a tv show??? That's even worse!

But on a more serious note. This is very much in-line with Disney's overall strategy under Iger. Brace yourself for more games based on ABC shows.

They don't have the next season written, but they know what is going to happen. They have about 5 or 6 seasons planned out.

Why can't I help myself from thinking "How can you make a game when you're not even sure what the show's about?"
