Kreate-a-Kameo kontest begins

Artistic gamers called out to skin heroine and elemental warriors from Rare's Xbox 360 game; 11 winning entries will be downloadable.

People who are budding game designers or fashion moguls take note: Microsoft has a contest for you. The company has announced the Kameo: Elements of Power Design Your Skin Contest, which asks gamers to submit their own character skins for the Xbox 360 game.

Through May 24, gamers can sketch their versions of Kameo and the 10 elemental warriors and submit them through the contest's official Web site. The contest is open to gamers 13 years old or older, and each submission needs to be an original design. Winners will be announced sometime in May on Xbox.com.

This won't be the first time Kameo has donned some new clothes. The elfin shape-shifter got into the Christmas spirit last year with a downloadable skimpy Santa outfit.

For more information on Kameo: Elements of Power, read GameSpot's review.

"now if they will only let us create our own dashboard skins"

Apparently, you haven't messed around with your xbox 360 much, you can create you own desktop on the PC or get a wallpaper or whatever and have it transfer over to the 360 and set it as a desktop.

I'll give Rare credit for really trying to stretch the life of this game, to bad it wasn't a better game to begin with. I have to admit the online co-op was a cool idea, but I find these character skins to be pretty useless downloads.

I think you're supposed to do sketch, not actually create the skin. The Artists at Rare will probably interpret the winners sketches and make the skins and models themselves. Either or, I'm in but the official link appears to be vague about drawing or creating a skin.

It's simple, Kama. Because people like to think they deserve stuff that they somehow are owed by developers. It's sad.

They will legally own the copyright. So, yeah. They can charge for it.
And they will.

I don't see why you guys think you should get this for free. People have to work to make the additional content. Therefore it costs money.

Well, after already releasing two skin packs for a price, I hope they release these for free. I almost think they'd have to, unless there's something in the release that says you waive any rights to your creations.

Would be nice if they would release the actual models and textures for the characters, that way the people that know how can actually make new textures for them.

As long as we don't have to see Kameo running around in a skimpy bunny costume, this is very good news indeed.
