E3 06: Red Steel, MGS4, Gears of War get E3 session

Conference Program assembles big games, names from creative front; super session puts Cliffy B, Kojima, and Xavier Poix on same panel.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo Conference Program came into clearer focus this week after the last of three big titles was added to the sneak peeks session, one of 34 presentations and panels in a program that takes place along side the action of the main show floor.

Most notable for game enthusiasts was the addition of Red Steel (Ubisoft's upcoming Nintendo Revolution exclusive) to a session that already had Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gears of War listed.

Showing each of the games are their respective creative leads: Hideo Kojima (shown above, center) will present Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PlayStation 3, Cliff Bleszinski (left) will present Gears of War on the Xbox 360, and Ubisoft Paris boss Xavier Poix (right) will show off Red Steel.

Other panels in the 34-session program include the participation of a number of top designers: Richard Garriott joins a session on massively cross-platform gaming; Ed Boon of Mortal Kombat fame joins a session on building franchisable properties; and the designer behind Killer 7--one the year's most sinister titles--Gouichi Suda (Suda 51), will sit on a David Perry-moderated session that will look at game design of the future. Joining Suda and Perry on that panel are The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's lead designer Todd Howard, id Software design lead Tim Willits (Doom 3), and Irrational Games president and cofounder Ken Levine (Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich).

Another noteworthy session is one that will look at the importance of story and character development. Included in that panel are David Cage of Quantic Dream (Indigo Prophecy); Richard Dansky, Red Storm Entertainment 's lead Clancy writer; David Jaffe off the God of War team; longtime Half-Life and Half-Life 2 writer Marc Laidlaw; and EALA boss Neil Young. They share the speaker's table as Mad Doc Software (Empire Earth II) founder Ian Lane Davis leads the discussion.

The current lineup of speakers and sessions can be found on the E3 Web site.

I don't deny some of the charities and donations are just a "front" for as a tax write off for them. Also I don't deny some donations are misappropiated and fraudulent and the true beneficaries never receive items claim to be given. But I am happy and thankful that there some who do and just happen to know first hand that MS does some real good for people. With that said I'm not naive either and MS isn't "innocent" in ALL things either or nor any other company for that matter. I just choose to dwell on the good and positive things since there very few positive people or things in this world we live in. Sorry for the tangent..let's talk GAMES!

Oh,now I understand soulknight, its all becouse your cousin is going to work for MS,well dude congratulations if he makes it(I hope you didn`t invented that) .Come on,we all know that those things are just a mantle to cover themselves, its like when an organization says that they are getting money for the poor kids in Africa and the truth is that they are getting it for their pockets, let`s be realistic.

Just to clarify, GOW is not an FPS. If you've seen the demos you know it has a third person perspective. Anyways, all three titles look extremely interesting and I look forward to seeing and hearing about actual gameplay for each of them. Next gen is here and it is an exciting time to be a gamer!

A_TODO_MADRE- Apparently it's beyond your limited mental capacity to understand why people like a particular genre over another, so why try? Just be happy you like what your particular taste is and don't be so judgemental of someone liking something different than you.

And if you doubt me you can do a google search on MS scholarships or foundations and charities. There are all kinds of info about MS contributions.

Yeah, I'm sure, MS couple of years ago sent my cousin to college on a 4 year scholarship and when she graduates she'll be working for them making about 65k a year. So -abelmaestro- I'm 100% positive that MS does some good things for us in the U.S.
