D&D Online gets more dungeons, dragons

First content add-on for Turbine's MMORPG released today; free download includes 15 new dungeons to explore, red dragon to slay.

The first Dungeons & Dragons-based massively multiplayer online game just got more dungeons and dragons. Game developer Turbine today announced that the Dragon's Vault module is now available free of charge. To get the module, gamers need only log into their Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach accounts.

Dragon's Vault focuses on the quest of the same name, which features adventures in a gladiator-style arena, below the Jungles of Khybar, and in the Vault of Night where a red dragon awaits. Outside the Dragon's Vault quest, gamers will be able to fight a vampire boss, stop a grave robber, and team up with a bounty hunter to catch an assassin. Newbies can also gather experience on the recently opened Kobold Island.

The download also fixes some performance issues in the game, and tweaks keyboard shortcuts and the game's user interface. For a full list of additions and fixes, check out the official Web site. The Dragon's Vault module requires the full version of DDO.

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more information, read GameSpot's full review.

there are mores MMOs there that dont charge for extra content, WoW and Lineage 2 being there. Sure wow will charge for the expansion, but look at what have been added since its launnch! And Lineage 2 wont charge for any of the 12 expansions planned.. 4 are already out.

They released this information a while ago. DDO is going to be like the tabletop AD&D. They release the base game and then they are going to release "modules". This is the first one. But you knew that already I'm sure.

Well, some game publishers are charging a couple of bucks just to get armor for your horse, and in the age of the Xbox 360, that's likely to become the norm. Pretty soon the $15 a month is going to seem like a good deal even to the MMO haters... "I don't know how you can spend $15 a month on one game! I spent $200 this month on four new games that I already completed or got bored with, and you're STILL playing that one game! Man, you're getting screwed." /rolls eyes

EVE Online has never charged for any of its expansions and updates. And they've done HUGE updates to the game. In my opinion, MMO updates and extra content should be free, given the monthly payment scheme.

Shouldn't it be free anyway? Your paying $15 a month and I don't ever remembe WOW charging for any of it's updates.

It is free Flophead. And i would have agreed with you once Mindphaser, until i realised that i was getting a lot more enjoyment out of wow and wasnt buying nearly as many new games as i used to.

I still feel sorry for all those who bought into this poorly made mmorpg. For $15 a month i'd expect to get new content for free.

Who the heck wastes $15 a month on one game? I'll NEVER undestand how people can pay all that for a single MMO game when there are so many non-fee games out there.

Stuff that shoulda' been in at launch, February 28th, but missed. That aside, however, it's good to see the support coming.
