Matrix Online combat gets overhauled

Sony Online Entertainment releases Combat Revision 2.0 for its massively multiplayer online movie tie-in.

A little over a year ago, developer Monolith's PC massively multiplayer online game The Matrix Online first went live. Today, Sony Online Entertainment has announced the release of the first "major enhancement" to the game, Combat Revision 2.0. Some specific changes in the combat engine include a new user interface and a general increase in speed of rounds, with shorter animations and fewer pauses in the action. There's also a handful of new combat styles, revised weapon classes, and a rebalancing that makes it possible for opponents to deal damage to each other in a given round.

I for one think CR2.0 rules and the people who have posted against it havent even played is so you are in no position to comment.
Anyway which one would u play MXO combat wid cool animations and real tactics in fighting or just one click attack like World of Warcraft

Dont know if anyones has said this but it was Monolith who began on the combat overhaul, NOT SoE.

To be honest I think everyone needs to calm down. So you didn't like the Matrix Online or the Matrix movies for that matter. Big Deal! You're entitled to you're own opinion and everyone else is entitled to theirs. Is it the end of the world if someone actually, heaven forbid, found a game you didn't like interesting. I'm sorry that the multitude of orc-fighting-dancing-elf-camping-in-the-forest-playing-for-a-year-to-earn-some-magic-something MMO's bored me to hell, but it was refreshing to see something new in the genre. So for gods sake, if you just want to say "people play this game?!?!!?!?", please go back your guild or dungeon or whatever boring waste of time place to came from and leave the people who actually care about an important update alone.

Plus, SOE couldn't make a decent MMO if Blizzard taught them how. Sony is horrible, products like this are indication of what it's going to be like owning a PS3, crap.

There was a Matrix online? Funny, as I forgot about the Matrix after the horrible ending to the third film, Revolutions sucked. It's a shame such a cool concept in beginning became the corporate money making screw up it is today.

Yes cloud-wolf, MxO has such a good community that they actually cut down the number of servers to 3 from 9 instead of adding more. What does that say?

Sorry to say but im one to bet none of you bashers have actually played the game since CR2.0 or even at all. I hate these people that automatically assume all of SOE's games are the same, MxO is different, very different. People still play this game, a lot of people, just you blind followers are ignorant to it. Bottom line is we have the best devs and the best community in any mmo out there and to be frank, i really dont care if you people, so caught up in your prejuduce and sheep like behavior, bash the game because in all honnesty, its better than having you there spoiling it.

I really like the idea of the game, but ugh, it fails to deliver, big time. I always hate when that happens.
Where are all the sci-fi games? And not Star Wars.

I'm quite surprised to hear this news based on the reaction to Sony changing the Star Wars Galaxies combat around.

It seems like whether or not the gameplay is going to be improved is irrelevant. The current players are going to complain. Loudly.

I bought this game for a penny but I still haven't played it. Oh well, at least I got a cool green shiney box and a CD I'll have no hangups about throwing as hard as I can with a firecracker attached to it.

actually the SOE fix isn't that bad... could have been better, but compared to what they did to SW:G... it's WAY better.

And yes I do still play every once in a while (working on oblivion and RFnline atm)

It's a great game to me, a lot of fun things to do if you're good at coming up with stuff using your IMAGINATION.

Oh well... some will like it, some will hate it...

SOE will never learn, SWG is just a weak imittion of a 3rd person shooter now, are they trying to tick off every subscriber they have.

hey guys stop dissing the people who enjoy this product, instead try and think better of them, maybe fantasy isn't their thing so they opted for a sci fi game, cool, good for them. this wasn't the MMO to come out in recent history, there have been far worse.

Wow, SOE trying to patch another game to death? When will they stop? First SWG, then EQ2, now MO? Oh well, sucks for the 3 or so people that still play the game.

It's probably exactly what they did to SWG twice, make the combat worse.

SOE likes tinkering with released products. I suppose it is acceptable since they didn't actually produce this particular MMORPG fromt he ground up.
