Untold Legends coming to PS3
Sony Online unveils first game for new console, the online-enabled action RPG Dark Kingdom.
Now that Sony has finally nailed down a release date for the PlayStation 3, gamers can start clamoring for a full list of launch titles. While that list isn't likely to emerge for a while yet, Sony Online has already filled in one piece of the launch lineup puzzle with today's announcement that Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom is under development to arrive alongside Sony's new console.
Continuing the series' mix of action and role-playing that it established in the first two Untold Legends games on the PSP, Dark Kingdom will take advantage of some of the new hardware's features. In addition to high-definition graphics (up to a resolution of 1080p) and 7.1 audio, Dark Kingdom will feature online multiplayer action and the ability to download new content from Sony's online service after launch.
Sony Online is emphasizing "physics-based" gameplay for the title, promising fully interactive environments where players can pick up and use objects and enemies alike as weapons or tools on their quest. Players will be able to choose from three different characters and earn spells and abilities throughout the game, all while amassing loot in the form of the game's hundreds of weapons, armor, and other items.
As for the game's story, Sony Online has enlisted fantasy writer Keith Baker, who has previously authored Dungeons & Dragons and Star Wars novels. The plot revolves around a king who falls increasingly under the influence of dark forces and around the efforts of his once-loyal servant (the player) to stop his new reign of terror.
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom is scheduled for release with the PlayStation 3 in November. The game is not yet rated, and Sony Online has not announced a retail price for it.

Hm both Untold Legends games on the PSP didnt get good reviews =/ I'm doubtful about this third game. Maybe SOE should cancel this and let it remain "untold". "...'physics-based' gameplay for the title, promising fully interactive environments where players can pick up and use objects and enemies alike as weapons or tools on their quest." That's definately NOT an example of "physics-based" gameplay. Definately describes, fullly interactive though. Nice hook and bait but I'm not going to be the fish that's going to fall for it.

Again with the ill-informed comments by those not knowing what to write. This game is a launch title, nothing to be excited about. Wait it out before making comments like "the screenshots look crappy" or "it won't be better than the Xbox360"...the console is not out yet! Leave a comment like "I didn't like it for the PSP, I doubt I'll like it for the PS3"...that can be considered a legit comment.
PEACE

this game is not PS3 graphics...PS3 can do soooooooooooooo much more than this, look at MGS4 and DMC4, and that's simple graphics for the PS3 while the 360 can't even run for example MGS4 graphics without framedrops. Look at Gears of War...that game has got framedrops!

this is a crap game ,of a crap series from, in all probability, crap developers. It is a hurried turd game that by no means shows what ps3 can really do.

Xbox360 had their share of awful launch titles like GUN, Tony Hawk, and several EA Sports games. EVERY CONSOLE LAUNCH HAS IT'S SHARE OF BAD GAMES! And to compare Oblivion to this is comparing a 2nd gen game to a 1st gen. Look at MGS4, Devil May Cry 4, Gran Turismo 5, FF PS3, etc. and that's TRUE PS3 graphics. Like others said, the game is very early in development and the team is focusing more on ONLINE play than graphics, since they are Sony Online Entertainment, which does NOT make graphically impressive games (e.g. Star Wars Galaxies, Everquest, etc.). Wait until we see Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Square-Enix, Konami, CAPCOM, Koei, etc. to show off the true power of the PS3. Furthermore, I think Japanese devs are pretty happy with the delay since they now have at least 4 more months to polish their games instead of a measly 2 or so.

MS didn't allow S-E to release FFXI for no reason at all, not to mention Japanese RPGs like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. I also have a feeling the Japanese gaming community is pretty pissed off to learn that their console has been delayed in order to prep a worldwide release.

PS3 owners get CONFIRMED next-gen entries from japanese rpg devs like S-E. 360 owners still hold their breath hoping that the 360's "worse than the original XBox" bomb of a showing in Japan is still good enough to convince Japanese devs to give MS a look.

This game is a disgrace to PS3! The character model are so dull and bland. Now Lemmings are gonna laugh at "PS 2.1"

The absurd, over-sized He-Man art style is pretty lame. The environments are too clean and too sparse. The in-game character looks like a plastic action figure. It looks even less RPG than before. It's not looking good when Sony's internal studio is putting out screens like this.

I have a feeling that this will be a launch title. They just want a line-up for november. I want complain with game like Tony Hawk and Gun looking real bad on the xbox 360. This looks 10 times better than does games.
But from what I heard the psp game was real bad. We will se in november.

whoo, first ps3 game that might not be really, really, really not stopping near anything or for anything good & in the event that there be one tiny, decolante crumb of good. that may have fell from the beak of heavenly bird. so high above us, the mere endearing few must lap at...(what? too over the top?) err...*mumbling* that you will have to fight, insert big abstract horde here. for that goldenly divine nugget of delightful...sweet...savoury...Gawd, you ruin everything. (no, i'm not going to spell check it & yes, i am going to write...) Ahem, and stuff.

What are you people yammering on about? The ATI part in the 360 and the Nvidia part in the PS3 are not very far apart in terms of graphics capability. They are of the same generation, and if you keep track of ATI and Nvidia on PC, you know they don't stray far from each other in terms of general capability. Now that we're over that...we'll see the biggest performance gaps when PS3 and 360 devs can get the multicores/Cell operating at full capacity. When that performance is tapped and we aren't just looking at pretty 3D acceleration (read: all next-gen games in 05-06), THEN we'll see some oranges to oranges and how the systems really stack up.

spyderman obviously the game is still under development and these screens do not show final graphics. At least this launch title isnt a port like most of the 360 launch titles

Not any better than Xbox360 games? That's an understaement. Those screens don't look better than most Xbox games.
If you look at the textures they are far beyond those available on the xbox. Quit being a hater of a game still in development. More launch titles is better than no launch titles.

If those are shots of a REAL PS3 game than Sony is REALLY ****ed this time around: That looks like it came out of 2002, at best. I'm not exactly certain that those graphics couldn't be done on a Gamecube.
