GRAW deployed to stores
Tom Clancy's soldiers ship off to retail for Xbox 360 and Xbox; latest in series sees the fight for freedom taken to Mexico City.
Tom Clancy's "invisible" Ghosts are about to be very visible to even the untrained eye. Ubisoft today announced that Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for the Xbox and Xbox 360 has shipped to stores, and should be available on shelves tomorrow.
Like its predecessors, Advanced Warfighter is a squad-based tactical shooter set in the near future. Using weapons and gadgets based on technology currently being developed by the military, gamers will head south of the border into Mexico City to quell insurgents before their rebellion takes control of the entire city.
Players will get a dose of high-tech gear with the Cross-Com, a device that connects soldiers to home base and to each other, allowing them to see what their squadmates see and to get info from Intel. Other future equipment includes a gun with a camera to shoot from behind cover, and a scouting drone that can point out dangerous terrain ahead.
A PlayStation 2 version of the game is expected to ship in late March, followed by a PC version in May.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is rated T for Teen and retails for $59.99 on the Xbox 360 and $49.99 on the Xbox. Check back later this week for full reviews of the Xbox and Xbox 360 versions, or take a peek at GameSpot's previous coverage.
