Microsoft updates 360, DOA4

Two updates out for 360 owners; dashboard fix prepares consoles for further updates, DOA4 fix includes option to reset online statistics.

Xbox 360 owners who turn on their machines and load up Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4 may be hit with consecutive loading screens. Microsoft has announced that a new autoupdate for the Xbox 360 is ready and will be downloaded the next time gamers log into Xbox Live. What does the update do? Microsoft doesn't mention anything specific, only saying, "The March 2006 Xbox 360 update will prepare your Xbox 360 console for future system and title updates."

A new DOA4 update is also up, reports Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb on his blog MajorNelson.com. Hryb reports that the update will also give gamers the opportunity to reset their online statistics at the time the patch is installed, giving those who have been pummeled black and blue a fresh start. However, other than that option, it's unclear what the update actually does.

Xbox Live has been busy of late, with new demos and customizing options appearing several times a week over the past few weeks. Upcoming files expected to be posted soon include demos of THQ's The Outfit and Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

I swear, it seems more like microsoft is trying to start a business strategy of letting half cut games out of the gate. Pretty soon they'll be releasing games before they even go through the game testing phase. I just hope Sony doesn't make the same mistake Microsoft has been making...... Beta games tend to suck.

I would like to see The Warriors get a compatibility patch. It has been two months since a patch was added. It is starting to irritate me that I have to have two Xbox consoles hooked up to play my library of games.

And so, console manufacturers fall into the PC perma-patching trap. Will we never get a completed game again?

Keep improving the 360, MS. But before you forget, please fix the backwards-compatibility and for the love of all that is holy, let us download content and at least play simple XBLA arcade games (or listen to music) while we wait. Thanks!

I hope it fixes problems between the games and the xbox guide. Its starnge how this patch and Dead Or Alive get patched at the same time, I really need to know if its fixed the DoA delete profile glitch so I can sign my mates in again to fight them. Plus dont be too hard on them, theres bound to be teething problems when you lauch a system. at least there sortin it out.

If you want a 360 import one from Japan. It costs less then the American ones and they are overflowing with them. You can even get used ones at less then American retail. Stores in Japan refuse to take in 360s because there backrooms are filled up with them.

The gamecube outsells the 360 in Japan.

I hope the 360 updates will be inlcuded on game discs, like the firmware updates for the PSP, because honestly, I have zero interest in XBox live, and I'm damn sure not subscribing just so I can patch bugs that should have been fixed before release =\

Please tell us, your customers, what these do to our systems. I should be able to get more info from Xbox Live than from Gamespot.

Fix Call of Duty 2 online you worthless tools! Something like 80% of all 360 owners have this game - this is where there efforts should be focused. As it stands now, M$ and Activision have stolen $60 of my hard-earned money.

To all of those that insult MS, lay off! They seem to try and fix there mistakes. Its not like they put the updates in only the newest 360s. Since they created a way to fix their bugs, they are on the road to create a good console. The main thing I want to see is the patch for Call of Duty 2 fixing the lag.
