Midway, THQ invade Europe

Mortal Kombat publisher grabs chateau nouveau in Paris; WWE publisher says "Goddag" to Copenhagen.

Though some gaming companies may joke about world domination, others take it a little more seriously. Two of the largest American third-party game publishers are expanding operations into one of the largest markets in the world, Europe.

Chicago-based Midway has announced that a new subsidiary will be landing in Paris, France. Midway Games SAS will handle sales and marketing in the country and will be headed by former Activision sales director Antoine Seux. Midway also has bases in the UK and in Germany.

THQ, headquartered in Agoura Hills, California, is also moving some operations across the Atlantic. The company will be opening a sales and marketing office in Copenhagen, Denmark, in order to cover all of Scandinavia, according to investment agency Copenhagen Capacity. The branch will employ 11 people initially, with 25 expected to be in-house further down the line.

What's the big deal? It's only business offices. Just sales and marketing. Just a few jobs.

It's not like they are opening big development offices with hundreds of employees.

Just wish we could get another company like Working Designs only instead of porting games from Japan for only one game system in America, they would port the games to all or multiple systems in America. The will rise from the ashes just like Acclaim did recently. And when they do, maybe they will get back to their roots of publishing games for more than one system.

THis will be good maybe even open jobs for people over there.

THis is good because it can help make games people like over there and then they will be even more happy.
