360 Burnout Revenge coming 3/7/06

Next-gen version of wreck-happy racer hitting the road in just over a month; free theme, car available via retailer-kiosk download.

No category of Xbox 360 games is as well stocked as the racing genre. Of the 19 titles released to date, three center on driving at dangerously high speeds: Ridge Racer, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and Project Gotham Racing 3.

However, that category will soon gain a particularly fast and furious entry. Late today, Electronic Arts finally revealed the release date for the Xbox 360 version of Burnout Revenge, the critically lauded racer from its internal studio Criterion Games. The game will take off from the retail starting line on March 7, 2006--just over a month away.

In addition to Burnout Revenge's ship date, EA also revealed that it will help hype the game via a campaign reminiscent of Nintendo's DS Japanese download kiosk program. Starting tomorrow, retailers such as Best Buy, GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target, and Circuit City will offer a Burnout Revenge download for free via their in-store Xbox 360 kiosks. To get the download, Xbox 360 owners must bring in their memory cards and insert them into a kiosk. Included in the download will be a Burnout Revenge dashboard theme, gamer pic, and Xbox 360-themed car (pictured).

You just knew that they'd come up with a reason to need the memory card even if you already have the hard drive...

Mobber: All they have at the kisoks is some Burnout themed graphics for your dashboard, a new gamercard picture, and an 'exlusive' new car skin.

It's mostly just free SWAG type crap, so you're not missing out on anything. IF they release a playable demo for the game I'm SURE that it will be available on LIVE.

I'm sick and tired of the NON innovative, RE-released games. Sure the visuals are awesome, but that only goes so far. PLEASE,PLEASE give us something NEW!!!!!

    i'll rent it though

You have to bring in your memory card. . . but if you have a hard drive. . . too bad.

Would be much smarter for them to put it up on marketplace, unless of course they think it's not as good as it should be. Not many people will have memory cards and bring those cards to a retail store in comparison...

so, to get the demo i'm gonna have to get a memory card and drive over 2 hours to check it out? sure was alot better when i could download it from my couch like all the other demo's...

It's a great way to promote a game. And no one is making you go buy a memory card and go to best buy.

I'm sure that Burnout 360 will do well in retail and will be an amazing game to play, but I'm not rubbed the right way by the methods EA and MS are using to promote this game. It really doesn't add anything to game and places the burden on consumers to attain these features by going to a retail store. For what? A lame advertisement and a car you'll probably never use in-game? Just an opinion...

I can't wait for this. I recently stopped playing the xbox version so the 360 version is mostly new to me. I think the graphics on the xbox alone are great, so the 360 will be amazing. It will definitely be worth the money just for the multiplayer aspect.

You don't decide if a game is worth the purchase because its always OLD code....

Full auto demo both the oxm version and the marketplace version are using code from back in august of last year.

I think I will stick with the downloadable demos that I get with the Hard Drive and let the silly Core people have their little car download. Fair trade. They got the crippled version of the 360 so why not?

Pretty clever. I mean most people won't have memory cards instead they will have the Hard Drive, therefore this could boost memory card sales as well as interest in the game.

I wish they'd allow Live Gold members to download this stuff (or have it available to Silver members, but for a fee.) I'm just not one to go out and buy a memory card for stuff...not worth $40, but maybe worth a few bucks.
Either way, can't wait for it to come out. I held off on buying a current gen version of the game because I knew this one was coming. Hopefully it will have proved to be the wise decision.

sweet... now only core x360 will have the chance to download those stuffs!! Smart move MS and EA, that will force Premium owners to buy a memory card.. and then a few months later, those same downloads could be found for free on xbox live..

Yes, i agree. Many of us (at least those i know) dont own memory cards because we already have a hard drive. I think they should just release it for free over the marketplace once the game comes out.
