PS3's 2006 game lineup updated

Publisher Success adds two more titles to Sony's next-gen roster; unnamed role-playing game and simulation title get 2006 tag.

The PlayStation 3 is supposed to come out this year, but its projected lineup for 2006 is a bit on the thin side. However, third-party publishers are starting to announce their contributions for the year little by little.

The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Japanese game publisher Success has scheduled to release both of its PS3 games before the end of the calendar year. One is a yet-to-be-named role-playing game, and the other is a simulation game named Hitsuji Mura (Sheep Village). Both games were already announced at 2005's Tokyo Game Show, but their release dates were given the mysterious "To Be Announced" label.

While there are already 71 publishers making 102 games for the PS3, most of the games still carry TBA release dates. With Success' pair added to the list of 2006 hopefuls, there are still only eight titles slated for this year. Koei is the only company that's announced titles for release this spring, when the PS3 may launch in Japan.

The list of PS3 games currently projected for release in 2006 is below:

Fatal Inertia, Koei, spring 2006
Mahjong Taikai, Koei, spring 2006
Ni-Oh, Koei, summer 2006
Shin Ten Makai VI, Idea Factory, summer 2006
Vampire's Rain, AQ Interactive, winter 2006
Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega, 2006
Unnamed RPG, Success, 2006
Hitsuji Mura, Success, 2006

some of these are extreme popular game in japan. Hardcore japanese will die for few of these games. Yeah, but this line up isn't so attractive for the ppl here in the states.

I read somewere that there should be motorstorm and tekken 6 ready at launch, x box didn't do better than that, given that some of it's strongest games are pretty shallow anyway

Lol I like how some of the fanboys on here justify this line up as good for a launch in Japan,....This stuff maybe sell decent over there comapared to here but it's still weak no matter how you look at it.
Sony need to just launch when things are ready and not rush it out which is quite obviously what they will be doing if thye come in the spring

Sheep..... Village......

Sheep.... Village....

what the hell!?!
"lets make a game about a village full of sheep"
"great idea. Im sure theres a massive market for that. Maybe somewhere just west of england perhaps."
"but wait- we're going to need alot of processing power. Lets go for the PS3 lauch with this"
"Just how big a village are we talkin' here?"
"ohhh, its not for the village."

Ok, this is at the Xbox 360 fanboys: You need to shut up for a moment, ok? Right now, it may look like PS3 has some major $#!t, but it's only February right now. In no time, I bet many more titles will be announced for this year. I know I-8 is going to be a launch title, and I'm sure Sony is dying to get Killzone and MotorStorm out there. WarHawk and Lair might be at launch, so just calm down on your mindless laughing for a moment, guys. These are only the games confirmed so far. I am confident that there will be a launch lineup announcement in the future. Seriously, do you think we're going to have an accurate guess of a launch lineup when we don't even know what month the console comes out?

The PS2 sold well despite it's incedibly crappy launch titles. People WAY overestimate the importance of launch games.

Most gamers either trust the parent company or they don't, and they've already made up their minds just because they know it's Sony/Nintendo/MS.

This is a crappy lineup, for Japanese gamers as well as anybody, but they will buy it anyways.

This line up seems to be targeted for Japan. Does this indicate a november launch for the US, I think so.

Imagine that! Japanese games for a Japanese launch of a console. WHAT ARE SONY THINKING? Also taking into mind that Sony itself is a japanese company. You americans should stick to nintendo DS. You're all to stupid to play sony consoles. Stick with mario 64 and nintendogs.

Dudes, this won't be all games. Remember, not all games are single platform, so most likely, games like King Kong will be out on ps3 by launch.

This doesn't look too interesting. Most of them are really Japan only titles (Mahjong? Please XD ). I hope they'll have something good for the final launch.

HA! Apparently Sony is scared that the 360 might have a good lead in the next gen wars! They seem to be scrambling garbage out just to try to get in there. But all the fanboys will still buy it regardless.

there are going to be a ton of games that STILL have TBA for their release even after ps3 comes out...... what else would you expect with an "eight core" chip (or what ever they claim)??? the more complex the hardware is, the longer it's going to take to program for it. LOL

This line up makes me sad... the only worthwhile games will probably be Sonic and Vampire's Rain.

I think I'll pass up the PS3 in favor of the Revolution... for now.

by the time the american launch rolls around, which will be holiday 06, there will be some killer titles and if killzone2 looks anything as good as its supposed to it will be a reason by itself to jump on the ps3 right quick not to mention unreal. plus to make things even sweeter there an a$$ load of movies that are coming out in blue ray as well that will be ready for holiday 06. mmmmmm it'll be nice to watch sony beat out hd dvd and microsoft all at once

oh and Morgy your the one saying senseless things like "Iv'e never read so much...senseless...and stupid...things before" You cant even use the right gramar. It should be Iv'e never read so many(not much)...senseless...and stupid...things before. When you are gonna bad mouth on something for being stupid make sure you don't make any stupid mistakes yourself.
