Full Auto test-drive now live

Demo of Sega's Xbox 360 demolition racer up for grabs on Xbox Live; full version set to peel out on February 14.

Car salesmen will often let potential buyers take automobiles out for a test-drive, to let drivers "see how she purrs." However, take said car, floor the gas pedal, fire a few missiles at traffic, and ram the front end into a store and Joe Auto Shiller gets all bent out of shape.

Sega, on the other hand, welcomes such behavior with its new product, Full Auto. Making good on its promise, a demo for the Xbox 360 game is now available on Xbox Live for free. Gamers will have the option to buy the full version from retail outlets on February 14.

The game sees weapon-outfitted cars racing through destructible environments. Drivers can also rewind a block of time using the "unwreck" feature, and get a second chance to take that tight corner correctly or steady their aim on an opponent.

Major Nelson, Xbox Live's director of programming, reports on his blog that the demo is available in North America and Europe. It may not be a smooth ride for Sega, however. Reports on multiple forums warn that Sega may have left the parking brake on, as the demo has caused repeated freezes of Xbox 360s.

Full Auto is rated T for Teen and will retail for $59.99. For more information on the game, kick the tires with GameSpot's previous coverage.

i personally do not think this demo does the game any justice, i mean it is not even a definite of what the final game will look like.. i have heard so many people complaining about the game & i just do not understand it.. i mean they have made some adjustments to the game so some of the glitches have been fixed that were found on the demo & it is so much better.. the graphics have been fixed & are to look alot sharper, they have improved the frame rate as well as the car control, which was needed & since it has been done i think this game is looking way way better than it was on the demo & will be a very fun game filled with some awesome gameplay.. this game just is not getting the positive recognition that i truthfully think that it deserves

Well... The demo that shipped on OXM's disc was pretty good... It's one of those kind of games that you need to play about 10 times before you really like it... and that's because you've BEEN playing Burnout... So FA has a lot to live up to... But, after playing the old demo for a while, I'm definitely going to buy it... The devastation you can cause is amazing... especially how persistent it is.

I'll download it tonight and see if it's the same on that's on the OXM disc... But that demo was what the game was at when it was supposed to ship last year (they say) and they've been working on cleaning it up and making it sharper since.

I think the retail version will be badass... plus there's always Burnout 360 coming after it.

Downloaded and played the demo. It was disapointing. The car models were not that great and niether was the textures. Overall the demo wasen't any fun. Sorry Sega, hope your other games end up way better than this one.

i think demos for consoles is such a great idea. imagin spending 60 bucks and then finding out u hate it. terrible.

anywyas when i saw a gameplay vid way back when i thought this game ws gonna be so cool cause the missed bullets where nailing the sides of the buildings and u could see the smoke.

ps. i dont have a xbox 360 and dont plan on getting one unless hd tvs drop in price 99.99%

I hope more and more game makers go the way of these guys and EA with fightnight, and put out demos of games before they are even out on xbox live. I think thats really awesome, and its cool to be able to just download and try a game before its even out PC style to see if you like it (except for a lot of PC games, the demo doesnt make it out untill AFTER the game is already out).

Framerate wasnt that smooth for a "next gen" console, also i noticed a few hitches during gameplay.Driving feels floaty. Hopefully they can fix these things before launch.Cant hold a candle to Burnout revenge.

    this demo SUCKS REALLA BAD!

i will be spending my money on FNR3.

  • xbx4ever

    Posted Jan 26, 2006 5:25 pm PT

the framerate is really weak. I was hoping this demo would be diffrent from the oxm one but it's not and unfortunately the framerate is still dipping way too low. This was on the top of my list after all the E3 hype but but unless the full game pulls it all together I think I'll stick with only getting Fight Night Rd3 in Feb. There's tons of games I want in march anyway!

i am disappointed with the demo hopefully they will improve the game a bit before it comes out because if they dont' then i am not even going to try this game. graphics aren't spectacular wrecks aren't that great guns and missiles are dull. . burnout is much better even if it doesn't have guns

This game is garbage. I played last night and am disgusted after playing it. Sure graphics are pretty but the actual game play isn't that great. Aiming the weapon totally suck as well. Plus it is WAY to easy. I will be awaiting Burnout for 360.

this demo is the esxact same as the oxm demo. Its really fun but mine is one of the ones that froze up. I no its not the system beause it froze on the oxm disc and the xbox live download. play uts fun.

NFSMW hasn't got wreckable features at all, it feels more arcade while it wants to be realistic...

  • hockey_player_1

This demo is insane...it owns burnout, but NFSMW is still the best racing game ever.

I had allready played it thanks to my OXM. But I'm going to downloaded again. I have the free space so why not. I will just delet it later when I have the full copy sitting in my lap because this demo is awsome and I know that the game will be even better. See you guys on live.

This game is great. The cars handle a little loose but at least there's more of an arcade feel. I would definitely reccomend this to anybody who wants a casual game of explosions and wreckage.
