Dead or Alive 4 ships December 29

Tecmo confirms that its Xbox 360 fighting game will be in major retailers nationwide just in time for New Year's.

Tecmo always said that Dead or Alive 4 would be in stores during the 2005 holiday season, and now it's official: The company today announced that the game will ship to major retailers nationwide on Thursday, December 29. During the past month or so, the game's presumptive release date kept getting pushed back by about a week at a time by online retailers, causing many to wonder whether the game would indeed ship in 2005, especially since Tecmo remained mum about a specific release date all the while. But now fighting fans can look forward to an action-packed weekend courtesy of the latest game from Ninja Gaiden developer Team Ninja.

Look for a full review of Dead or Alive 4 on GameSpot later this week, followed by an HD video review early next week. For now, read our final hands-on impressions based on having spent plenty of quality time with a retail-ready version of the game.

    oh yeah and timmyhasgotagun, you are an idiot. Sony just wants to show developers that the ps3 can handle the unreal 3 engine AS WELL AS THE XBOX 360. And I bet epic wont be able to decode the hieroglyphics that make up sony's ps3 sdk.

    no we just need elder scrolls 4 and gears of war. hopefully this starts a trend of not delaying games into the next decade

    don't give a **** either way personally, PS3 will be better graphically, not to mention they get exclusivity rights to Unreal 2007...360 couldn't handle it...

    ok...i like the 360...i thought the xbox was the best out of the last gen systems...as for sony ive had the playstations too...well see...i think they got there hands full

    HEY I LOVE THIS GAME!!! I was really luck i got the last copy at my local Game Stop, nex time i will reserve games because gamestop is really cheap and is having less copies for walk in customers. But HEY!! DOA 4 is wonderfull, very involved story line, not like before where the CG movies left you guessing. Not now, everything is amazing ( very dramatic I love this game. Well i am a DOA hard core fan anyway. The graphics are incredible specially for the stages, but the counter system is a bit hard for me, but i guess practice will make perfect right? HEy!! WE ALSO NEED DOAX2!! NOWW at least some pictures and this time i want Tecmo to make some magic with the xbox 360 and its POWER!! And if its M anyway why no go all the way? Right?

    Pro: graphics, gameplay, controlls,
    cons: counter system ( a little hard, but exciting)
    so so: music (kind of cheesy), Character models ( clothing is good, but time to start from scratch with the actual characters EX: faces, boobs etc)

    My Rating; A STORNG 9 out of 10!!!!

    All that waiting is finally over. They kept moving the date, and moving the date, for what Reason? My game has frozen on me three times when I have been playing online. That is an easy bug to find. Why wasn't that fixed? THey stole enough time from us. Other than that, the game seems worth the wait.

    YAY, I know some people are still out there waiting for a 360 and I am finally going to be able to get mine tommorrow lol. Not like barely making it for 2005. I didn't really miss any good games anywayz. DOA 4 is prolly the best game so far so I guess it didn't matter much. I really want Elder Scrolls. Xbox Magazine will keep me going with demo's of Full Auto, and w/e they release for the next couple months. There seriously my favorite magazine. Every Xbox gamer should subscribe. Ohh and with my new internet connection I was just able to start playing MMORPG's, and I hate em. Maybe its just cuz Star Wars Galaxies is no good, who knows. Hope everyone has good holidays.

    Omg, w00t seems like they dont care about chrismas sales go up on 70% and in january they go freakin low ppl... seriously, this probably expected to be a big hit... Team ninja and bungie know the xbox360 inside out cuz they are part of microsft... meaning this is going to be good...

    Has anyone thoought that they may have been waiting for Microsoft to release more consoles and even they got so fed up that they released the game anyway. Lets face it only those with consoles will buy the game and how many have been sold? It looks like a great game but I will hold off till I read some reviews. PDZ was supposed to be revolutionary but I thought it to be just another FPS and not a ground breaking one. I am waiting to get my Xbox360 back as it overheated and had to go to Microsft hospital. I hope it returnes in good health. Happy New Year all.

    Wow! I'm amazed. I didn't believe this news blurb at first, but I actually got my call from GameStop. I had bets down that they wouldn't release until next year. Now that those are out the door, who wants to bet that we'll see immediate patching because of "issues with the online portion of the game"?

    I'm just glad it came out this year. I was developing a mean case of tunnel vision from the all of the 360 FPS madness! Variety is nice indeed.

    I don't know if they had it, but at Target I saw an empty row, labled Dead or Alive 4 and a price. I laughed to myself because Target also released the classic edition GBASP, 3 days early. There are probably some lucky people who already have it. So this news is weird to me, esspecially because Game spot said they played the final version already.
