DOA4 delay déjà vu

Xbox 360 fighter's release date backing further into corner of 2005; online retailers list ship date at December 28.

Dead or Alive 4 for the Xbox 360 is coming out later than expected...again. Online retailers are listing the game as releasing on December 28, 2005, almost a week after it was last projected to hit stores.

All is not lost for fans of the franchise's battling buxom beauties. Tecmo's Web site still shows the game as having a "Holiday 2005" release date, giving the company 12 more days to make good on its word.

DOA4 was originally scheduled to be both a North American and Japanese Xbox 360 launch title, but has since been in a holding pattern for nearly a month. Tecmo previously cited online issues as reason for the delay in Japan.

Perhaps to appease its rabid fan base, the company is offering those who preorder the game from its Web site a free Dead or Alive 4 2006 calendar, which will hopefully still be useful by the time the game does come out.

    My theory...
The initial launch of a popular title is when they tend to sell the most units, hype is high and anticipation is at it's peak...
The Xbox 360 is suffering from a shortage and many if not most of those that want one still can't find it, so at press time market penetration is low...
    So...
I bet they're delaying bit by bit to by time until M$ makes good on their shipments and gets more consoles into the market. With so few 360's out there, a launch at this time would reflect dismal sales initially, and possibly hurt over all sales as the hype dies down and those that may have bought one initially let it pass in light of what more current when they get their 360. So my theory is that once market penetration reaches a decent level, I bet $10 well see DOA4 suddenly materialize.

No-way can Tecmo get this out in 12 days. I'm thankful for that as this is the only game I want a 360 for.

Well, Team Ninja, take your time, and make the online fighting part of the game as smooth as you can. Just don't delay it to March of next year like y'all did with Ninja Gaiden. If the date at EBgames or Gamestop is pushed back anymore, I'll know those guys don't actually have a date from Tecmo or Team Ninja. I'll just start taking all the dates I see at online retailers with a grain of salt from now on.

I don't think it will be releasing in 2005. But the game will be better for it. At least some developers actually care about releasing quality software, and not rushing products out just to have it at launch. *I'm looking at you EA*

Honestly I was a lot more upset that Oblivion was pushed back so far. I think it will be released on the 28th, and that this last set back was to get people to buy the titles already out for Christmas. I'm expecting a number of delays on Halo 3 and the Ps3.

Take note pre-orderers: This is their fault, again, not GameStop's.

Well Team Ninja NEVER gave a release date for this game. NOT ONCE. ALL they said was Holiday 2005. So its not delayed until it doesnt come out in Dec. Stop listening to sites like Eb and Gamestop. They post anything.

I'm getting pretty irritated with this, i like my 360, but the drought of new titles (which looks like it's going to be for a while) and overlapping in genres, i mean how many freaking racing games at launch did we need, come on M$ you rreally could have planned it better, GIVE ME A FREAKIN FIGHTING GAME ALREADY!!! (and an rpg too please, and saint's row) NOW!!

hahahhaha I'm happy its delayed that just means the end product will be THAT much better. Especially the online play. People just imagine how sick it'll be to play doa4 over xbox live. The people that actually own a 360 and have been on the improved xbox live know what an exciting thing this all is.

I just think it's funny. i mean, sure Billy has tons of cash but he can't keep bleeding money forever. He hasn't made any money from the first XBox yet and isn't going to from the XB3 for a long time if the past is any indication. With each delay, newbies like M$ put themselves in position to be sidestepped in the market. M$ is just showing their true nature: Incapable of delivering what it promised. But remember, Xbox fanboys, Peter Moore and J. Allard are "Psyched" about this and they predicted that high number of XB3s to be sold by sometime next year. Hahahaha....guess that lofty goal is out of reach at this point. :-)

This is the nly game that will lessen Microsoft's burdens in japan, so why do they keep delaying it?

It looks like we have another HL2 on our hands.

The moral of this story: Never depend on Microsoft's consoles to get anything. Good work Tecmo. Help kill XB3 a little more. DOA4 being delayed will just cause the few gamers in JP who actually bought the XB3 for games want to shelf it or return it or resell it. I can see Ebay becoming overpopulated with unwanted XB3s shortly. Nice! Die M$ Muahahahaha! >:-P

Patience, My guess is it will be the 28th, the delays have only been a few weeks if it were gonna be longer they'd say so. If not , oh well. It's done when it's done. I'd rather wait for a great finished game, than settle for a rushed to deadline glitchy game. Hats off to Team Ninja for taking the time to make it right the first time.

It's all a conspiracy by MicroSoft and Team Ninja/TECMO. They knew that DOA4 would sell systems (especially in Japan) and deliberately lied about it coming as a launch title. They knew it would come in the spring of 2006 all along and their ploy worked. Don't believe me, just look at the sales of XBOX360 systems and XBOX360 games ratio in japan. It;s at .85% which means that most people bought the system and no games.....BECAUSE they want (drum roll....) DOA4!!!!!

SHAME ON YOU Microsoft for doing this to us and SHAME on you Team Ninja, for going along.

The head of Team NInja is a perfectionist and won't release the game 'til he thinks it's perfect. That's why Team Ninja always delays so much, but I bet it'll be here on the 28th.
