Halo Zero finished

French-made side-scrolling adventure featuring Le Master Chief now available.

Last year, several screenshots begat rumors that Halo was being adapted for the Game Boy Advance. In fact, the game was Halo: Blood Covenant, a free fan-made two-dimensional side-scrolling shooter for the PC.

While Halo: BC remains incomplete, another, similar tribute to the Master Chief has now been completed. The French-Made Halo Zero sports similar side-scrolling carnage, pitting the Master Chief against faithful-but-flat re-creations of elites, grunts, and jackals.

Though not endorsed by Microsoft or Bungie, Halo Zero is set on the same planet as the official Halo novel The Fall of Reach and allows "Le MC" to jump and duck, as well as pick up and switch weapons. It is free to download (until Microsoft has it pulled down, anyway).

    to hellowrockview: a) you don't get a virus for downloading runescape, and b) you don't get a virus from halo zero.

    A note for the masses... free games shouldn't be regarded any differently than a real game... meaning that just because it's free doesn't mean it's instantly good because it's "free".

    Essentially, the programmer broke alot of game dynamics... probally because it's easier. Many guns are actually useless, and instead of hiding behind cover now... it's the age old jump around firing randomly... or just run up and beat them to death (easier).

    Classic example of what happens when artists make games... the whole "one man team" never works in the end and failure to realize that only hurts the final product.

    Nothing special. You just walk through the levels and just shoot in fornt of you. i can beat this game with my eyes closed...

    I am seeing a lot of skeptical "lols" and "hehes" about the games appearance, people its a free game and its a really good free game, and you expect what … halo 3? besides you will never make anything better so shhhh and play

    Just downloaded it (basically the first PC game I've played that isn't like Solitaire or Free Cell), I hate the control set up on the keyboard, nothing really special.

    I played through the first few levels of this game, and I have to say that it's completely horrible. Not only was it lagging horrendously, but the game play was boring, and the mechanics were all off...when I have the reticule aimed at an enemy's head, I'd like to hit that enemy, not the guy behind him. It had the potential, but now that I've seen the final product, I feel that it's a complete disgrace to the Halo name.

    it aint half bad except i couldnt us a controller o it took me some time to set up a good control scheme. its fun but seems kinda short mind you it has online play (i havent tried it yet). i realy like the sprites

    it's actually pretty fun, if you play on heroic. but it's really short, take less than an hour to beat, maybe only 30 minutes.

    just finished playing this. Its great fun (a little short though) and its got every that made Halo great. All the weapons and Covenant are in there, as well one or two warthog levels. Best of all the music is copied over PERFECTLY. If you're a Halo fan get this now.

    Some of my favourite shooters are old side scrollers like Metroid, so this should be pretty cool.

    I think they should release a game like this for the Xbox Live Arcade. Of course, it would have to be tuned up a lot, but it has a lot of potential to be fun.
