JiWire helps DS owners get connected

Nintendo licenses hot-spot-finding directory service for use with Wi-Fi Connection.

Have a DS but don't know where you can hop online with Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection service? Help has arrived. Wireless Internet hot-spot-finding service JiWire today announced that Nintendo has licensed its directory to let DS owners find the nearest free hot spots with ease. DS owners in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, and Chile can log on to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Web site and enter a street address and zip code to find the closest hot spots.

This prooves that Nintendo is at all making an effort to make their consumers (and big fans) think that to spend some money on their console isn't that a waste of money. Sony would never ever even think about something like this becuase they're so freaking into their square thinking in console sales and their economy that they just doesn't give a darn about their consumers. Nintendo takes the whole gaming to an new level with everything they do, becuase they know what they do and does it.

I have a wireless router which lets me go on Wi-Fi but my computer does not do WEP so I have o manually change it and that is annoying.

Since I am already aware of this, it is inconceivable to me how anyone else on this planet could NOT be. Also, I feel obligated to let everyone know just how superior I really am.

If your university requires you to enter a username and password to use the wifi network, youre out of luck.

Could I just use a wireless hotspot like one in a university building? The university I'm at has several buildings with wireless access, would these work? There aren't any hotspots really nearby me, and even if there were, I don't think I'd want to go into a McDonald's and stay there for an extended period of time.

the_pixelator: The Nintendo DS does support WEP encryption. You can use any "hotspot finder" you like for the DS. Also, the DS gets FREE McDonalds access and the PSP does NOT.

I guess it's great but I don't have that problem.

The PSP already can use free (or secure, unlike the DS) hotspots. You can use any 'hotspot finder' service you like.

Makes you wish Sony would bring out a real effort for making wifi hot-spots available for its PSP system....oh well, their loss.
