Crypto 137 to entertain all humans!

THQ's Destroy All Humans! going prime time; Fox abducts rights to turn game into animated television show.

Picture this: An agent has a client who is short, is seemingly not of this Earth, and believes his species originated from another planet. Finding that person a part in Hollywood would be near impossible, unless he happens to be dating Katie Holmes.

Such was the situation for United Talented Agency, which was brought on to expand the Destroy All Humans! brand beyond the world of gaming. Hot on the heels of an impressive showing at retail, publisher THQ sought aid from the agency in July...and that move appears to have worked.

Fox Broadcasting, home of such animated fare as The Simpsons and King of the Hill has announced that it acquired the rights to the THQ property. Fox plans to make the game into a computer-animated comedy show and will slot it somewhere in prime time.

The goal is to make the show as good and as funny as the video game. "Hopefully, if we pull this off, people will be asking why haven't we done this before," writer/coexecutive producer Jim Dauterive told Reuters. Dauterive previously worked on King of the Hill.

Destroy All Humans! is set in 1950s America during the height of the Cold War and Communist witch hunt. The game's antihero, Crypto 137, is an alien sent on a mission to save his people, who have become impotent and must rely on cloning to propagate the species. To do so, the big-eyed alien must extract DNA from the brain stems of Earthlings. Anal probes, disintegration, and hilarity ensue.

Destroy All Humans! was released in June on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. For more details on the game, check out GameSpot's review.

I must say, I'll be waiting for this show to come on. My eyes will be glued to that television screen the day it comes on and when the DVD comes out, I'll be bound to buy the thing. The game is so cool, I wonder if they'll make a sequel to the game. Wait, does that mean that if Fox owns DAH now, a sequel is impossible right? Hope not.
