EA names NASCAR cover boys
Teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson give a face to EA's voice-recognizing racer.
Stars like Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have become the face of NASCAR, so it's only fitting that EA today announced they'll be the face of its upcoming NASCAR 06: Total Team Control on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Gordon is a four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion since winning rookie of the year honors in 1993, while Johnson entered Cup Series racing in 2002, finishing fifth in points that year and second in the standings for 2003 and 2004.
As teammates in the Cup Series, Gordon and Johnson reinforce NASCAR 06's focus on teamwork. For the first time in the series, gamers will be able to don a headset to communicate with the pit crew, as well as with other drivers. The pit can tell you to drop back, hold position, or block rivals looking to pass.
NASCAR 06: Total Team Control will release September 1 for $49.99 and is rated E for Everyone. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
