Bully picks on PS2s, Xboxes
First title from Rockstar's Vancouver studio depicts schoolyard survival; Bully teases consumers this October.
Everyone has tales of merciless torment from their days on the playground. Rockstar Games, maker of the Grand Theft Auto franchise and one of Take-Two Interactive's publishing labels, is spinning its own schoolyard yarn, but this tale will give gamers a chance to get a little virtual revenge.
Bully is currently in development by Rockstar Vancouver and will be the developer's first game. It's scheduled to be released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox this October and will be shown behind closed doors at this year's E3.
"We are really excited about the first title to be developed by our Rockstar Vancouver studio," said Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games. "We fought hard to keep this title under wraps for ages, and I am thrilled that we can finally unveil it to people at E3."
Details on the "humorous tongue-in-cheek" game are limited, but a release issued by Rockstar today states that the game will take place at a fictional learning institution, named Bullworth Academy. Gamers will "stand up to bullies, get picked on by teachers, play pranks on malicious kids, win or lose the girl, and ultimately learn to navigate the obstacles of the fictitious reform school."
Hold on to your lunch money, because GameSpot will have more details on Bully in the future.
